JAMES MORGAN, OF NEW BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS.
BILL OR BAG HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 8, 1908.
Application filed November 4, 1907. Serial No. 400,655.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J AMES MORGAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Bedford, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bill or Bag Holders, of which the following is a specification. 4 A
My invention relates to a holder for bills, letters, bags or the like and particularly contemplates the provision of a simple and inexpensive device for securely holding a number of such articles, in such a manner that the same may be removed independently of one another, and which may be readily and easily recharged when desired.
The invention further and specifically re sides in the following features of construction, and arrangement, as will be hereinafter described with reference to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification.
The drawing is a perspective view of my improved holder for bills, letters, bags or the like.
In the accompanying drawing of my invention, 1O designates a base or support designed to lie flat upon a desk or the like, or be hung upon a wall. An angular arm is provided, comprising an elbow 13 and connecting downward extensions 11, which carry plates 12 at their ends, said plates being screwed or otherwise secured to the base 10. A second angular arm is provided with an elbow 13 and a forwardly extending extension 14 and a rearward extension 15, which is so shaped as to serve as an operating handle. These two angular arms are pivoted together at their elbow portions as shown. The extension 14 0f the upper arm is provided with an opening 16 in its end, and the forward plate 12, secured to the base 10, has a lug 19 formed thereon with an opening therein. A coil spring 17 provided with hooked ends 18 has one of said ends secured in the opening 16 and the other in the opening in the lug 19.
It will be seen that pressure applied to the handle portion 15 to force the same towards the supporting base 10 will cause an upward movement of the forwardly extending extension 14'of the movable angular arm, thereby distending the convolutions of the spring to allow papers, bags or the like to be inserted therebetween.
Having thus fully described my invention,"
JAMES MORGAN.
