IMPROVED METAL BINDING FOR OIL-CLOTH, CARPETS, &c.

Be it know-u that I, JOHX. PIPER, of Utica, in the county of Oneida, und Stute of New York, have invented a new and improved Mode of PreventingWear and Destruction ofthe Edges of Oil and other Floor- Cloths; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description oitheconst-ruction of the suine, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making u part of this specification, in wl1iel1-v Figure 1 is a perspectiveview, and

Figure 2, a vert-ical section.

The same letters of reference refer to the same parts v in the respective figures.

A is the 110er;

B, the oil-cloth, or other door-cloth;

C, a sheet-metal edging, or binding tightly enclosing the edge of such cloth, a narrow strip or edge only, of such sheet-metal, being upon the top or' upper surface of the cloth, which is bent over the edge, and extendsunder the said cloth, sufficientlyeyond the upper edge to allow of being fastened by The sheet-metal edging, or binding, when attached to floor or other cloths, substantially in' the manner stated.
