To all whom tt may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM TUNNESSEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hazleton, in the county of Luzerne and State of Pennsylvania, have invented anew anduseful Improvement in a Minerls Lamp, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in miners lamps and more particularly to the neck'and cap of the same, the object beingto form a hinge for the cap without the use of solder.

Another object of my invention is to provide the lamp with a metal neck having, an integral tongue which is bent back upon itself over the pintle ofthe cap so as to form a bin e without any danger of it being-melted off y the heat of the torch of thelamp.

With these and other objects in. view, the invention consists in the novelfeatures of construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully desc'ribed and point- ..ed out in theclaims.

In the drawings forming a part of this specification :Fi re 1 is a side view of my improved miner's amp. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same, Fig. 3 is a top plan view of the neck and cap detached from the lamp, showing the manner of hinging the cap to the'neck. j

In the drawing A indicates the tank of an ordinary miners lamp which is provided with the usual spout in which the wick is placed, and the ordinary hook by which it is secured on the cap of the miner.

The tank is provided with'an open flanged top in which is secured the lower flanged portion of a neck B which is formed of any suitable metal, and is provided with an out- 'wardly projecting tongue C whichis bent back upon itself around one of the parallel bars of a link D. Secured around the other parallel bar of the link is the tongue E of. the flanged cap E, which is securely crimped on the tank.

It will be seen by I of the linkto the cap, the other member will form a pintle so that the cap can readily be swung over the neck or off the same, and one which is so constructed that the cap will not be hurt by the blaze of'the torch.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as'new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A miners lamp, comprising a tank and a neck portion crimped thereto, said neck having a laterally extending integral tongue, said tongue being bent to form a sleeve,-a cover fitting said neck and having an integral tongue extending above and parallel to the tongue of the neck when the cover is closed,

said tongue being also bent to form a sleeve,

and a link having its opposite side members 1n engagement wlth sald' sleeves, respectively.

'2. A miners lamp, having a neck portion crimped and secured in the lamp body, an
