top of the compartment, as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 2 at d, in order that when clothing is hung within the cabinet it will not disarrange articles in the compartment D.
D is a door hinged at its lower edge to the To all 'whom it may concern: l Be it known that I, NICHOLAS BURNS, citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, county of Wayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvei ment in Clothes Presses or Cabinets, and dewall of the cabinet to close the opening into clare the 'following to be a full, clear, and i'the compartment D, and d is a chain to limit eXact description' of the same, such as will E the movement of the door, the object being enable others skilled in the art to Whichit j to cause the door to serve as ashelf for razors, pertains to make and use the same, reference 'I shaving cup, or other toilet articles when in being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specication.
My invention relates to an improvement in clothes press or cabinets shown in the accompanying drawings and more particularly pointed out in the following Specication and claims.
In the drawings r-Figure 1 is a perspective view of the cabinet showing one of the compartments open. Fig. 2' is a vertical crosssectional view on line :1J- 9c of Fig. l. Fig. 3 is a vertical cross-sectional view on li'ne ydy vof Eig. 1.
The object of my-invention is to provide a clothes press or cabinet that will fully protect the wearing apparel housed within from dust due to'eXposure; the construction and arrangement of the parts being such that any article of dress may be readily secured without disturbing other garments hung within the cabinet. Compartments are also y vided foi slices, Shirts, hats, toilet articles and bed clothing.
One feature of the construction is the convenient arrangement provided for articles used in shaving ,-provision being made for supporting the shaving outfit adjacent to a pier mirror set in the main door of the cabinet, that the person using these articles may employ the mirror while shaving.
Other advantages will hereafter appear.
Referring to the letters of reference shown in the drawings: A represents the cabinet having two divisions A and A2, being divided by a partition A3 running from front to rear and from top to bottom of the cabinet.
B is a door hinged to the partition A3 and in which is set a pier mirror B.
Within the cabinet, and supported by the partition A3 and the end wall of the cabinet, is a clothes pole C designed to support suitable clothes hangers hung thereon.
D is a compartment located within the division A designed for the reception of articles used in Shaving, there being a wall across the use.
E is a drawer intended for storing shoes or other articles, the opening being decked over within the cabinet as indicated at c to protect the contents of the drawer from being disarranged due to the storing or withdrawal of clothing hung within the cabinet.
F is a closet in the division A2 and is intended for use in storing bed linen or other ,similar articles.
G is a drawer designed for shirts and H is a compartment in which to store hats or like articles.
It will be seen that by the use of my inven-.
tion all the articles necessary to a complete wardrobe may be fully protected from dust and dirt, are readily accessible and that the necessary toilet articles are so disposed of as to be within easy reach when the mirror is employed.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is In a structure of the character described, a casing comprising a top, bottom, end walls, and spaced rear and front walls and also having a partition connecting the front andy rear walls and also connecting the top and bottom of the structure, the front wall having an opening, a closure for said front wall opening, said closure having a mirror, a receptacle upon oneA side of said partition near said front wall opening and having its inner end spaced from said rear wall and also having a single o ening which is made through the front wa l, a closure to said receptacle swinging from its lower edge, flexible elements connected to Said swinging closure to limit its downward movement whereby the swinging closure forms a shelfv extending from the bottom of the receptacle, a drawer upon the same side of said partition upon which said receptacle is disposed, said drawer being disosed at the bottom of the structure, a platform over said drawer, a second drawer disposed upon the opposite side of said parti- 1 for Said compartment, a Cabinet beneath the tion and extending from the latter to the eorl end of the structure, as and for the purposes 10 responding end of the structure, a ooinpartset forth.
ment above said second drawer between the In testimony whereof, I sign this specificalatter and the top of the structure, a closure tion in the presence of two witnesses.
second drawer, a closure for the cabinet, and NICHOLAS BURNS a garment suspending pole arranged in the rear of the aforesaid receptacle and supported by said partition and the corresponding /Vitnesses SAMUEL E. THOMAS, GRACE E. VVYNKOOP
