IMPROVEMENT BUT-EIN GES.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patentand making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, ETIENNE BOILEAU and CHARLES MESNIER, both of StLLouis, in the county of Sh. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented a new and improved Mode of Makin g Shutter-Hin ges and We hereby declare that the following is a full and exact; description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of our invention consists in making the hinge as shown in Figure A, to have t-he upper portion B act up as a cap, to be used either right or left, and so as to cover the pivot, and protect it from rain or damp.
The other part of the hinge C is bearing the pivot, and is also made to be used right or left.
The ring, or ferrule, marked D, is so arranged that in reversing it, it will fasten the shutter to t-he walls when open also to fasten'when the shutters are closed.
What we claim as our improvement in a shutterhinge, is-
The ferrule, or ring D, having the notches E E', oombined and arranged with. Athe wings B and U of the hinge, the latter having the lugs G'G, whereby the hinge may be used either right or left, and the shut-ter fastened both open vand closed, all as described and sh'own.
