AUTOMATIC DISCHARGING JDIIVIK'JE.`
i Application i'lled March 4,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, Tnnooon Koran subject ot' the German Emperor, and a resident ol Uouliugen-Rhcin, Mrsorstrasse 149, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Discharging Devices, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to a device for automatically emptying receptacles of all kinds7 and should be particu lary useful as a discharging or unloading device for Wagons.
The invention consists essentially in the iormation and arrangement oi the usual discharging boards in such a Way thaton releasing a catch they come into the open position under the pressure of the weight oi the load, and after unloading automatically return again into the closed position under the action oi the power produced in discharging. For this purpose the discharging boards are so situated that instead oi being loosely suspended in the usual way on the n nils ol the' receptacle or wagon box, they. can move towards the outside on opening so that after unloading they move back again into the closed position under the inllucnce of their own weight.
In the drawing a form of construction of the invention is shown applied to 'a railway wagon, the wagon being shown in a vertical section. One oi the unloading boards is shown in the closed position, and the yother in the open position.
'llie frame of the wagon box a rests in the usual Way on the axles b. rthe side walls c and d ot' the wagon box are obliquely arranged, and the lower parts are constructed in the form oi movable plates c and f On the upper end of each of these platos are arranged two or more blocks for the rollersh, which run on the rails 'i fastened on the wagon box.
On or near the lower ends of the plates-c and fbloclis c are iitted ior the rollers l which run on the rails m.
7L and o are bolts which stand under the influence oi springs p; these bolts are connected with the levers g and r, which are rigidly attached to the shafts s and t.l The shafts .s and L are mounted so that they can be turned by the hand levers u and lu. fw are guiding `plates for the material which is being discharged. designates thcl center ol gravity olv tlul plates c and The operation o'l` the device is as iollows. When one of the bolts n and o has been drawn back the hand ,lever u or 1) ol the shafts s, t and the levers q, T, that is one ol'thc plates c, f unbolted, then the pressure exercised on the plate by the charge causes it to move towards the side, whereby the ccutcr of I suine time raised` This movement oi the plate is limited by moans ol any suitable arranged stop, so [hat it does not reach a periectly vertical position. lhe material drops down the opening so .lormed on to the chute plate 'w aud holds the plate c or f in the raised position, .troni which it by means ol Specification' of LGttersPatent.

l automatically returns to the closed position. on account Onthe returnthe plate presses back the bolt, which by spring power or a countcrpoise has again entered the Closed position. When the plate has completely reached. its position ol restthe bolt by the action ot` the spring or couuterpoise slides orward again and thereby bolts the plate. il the wagon is to be discharged towards both sides, then the bolts must be drawn back by means oi the two handlevers, whereupon the above described operation takes place on both sides. i
It' is obvious that the invention is not limited to the lornl ot' construction and the iorm oi application here shown.
The various parts ol' the device may be modified in lorin and arrangement, and the device may also be applied to other receptacles without the scope ol the invention being exceeded.
ol its own weight.
What l claim my invention and desire to secure by ll'ietters Patent is: Y
l. lu u discharn'ing device the vomb'innlitm or' movable walls oblluuely i ingrid, menus to lend said walls outwards und upwards by pressure of the loud, suld wallsl bcing arranged toreturn by gravity, menus to limit lhe oulwurd und upward movement before the walls reach the vertical position, inclined pluies bn|o\v said movable wafls, means for keeping' the walls in the closed position., and means for releasing the keeping mechanism, substantially as and for the purpose sot forth.
lu a disch: 'ug' device lhc combiimlloirot" nulvnblc walls oblquely arranged, rollers un lne iop und near tho bottom ot' said obliqucly arranged movable walls, oblique ruils ou which the upper rollers rest, rails ou which he lower rollersl rest, menus tur keeping' said walls lu the closed position, means to release the lugeuing meclmnism, said walls beingV adapted to return to the position ot' rest by gravity, inclined plates below said obliquoly :i1-rui "ed movable walls, and menus to limit the outward and upward movement ol the walls, substantially us and [or the purpose set forth,
Zi. vln a discharging device the combination of two oblique walls, opposite one another, inuvnbly arranged lower pui-rs ol' sutl \\ullsrollers at' the top and near the ld morality arranged walls, rails on which est, inclined plaies below said moi/ably ur ranged walls, mechanism for keeping said walls in the closed position, means to release the keeping mechanism und means to limit the outward und upward movement of lhe walls, substantially as und for the purpose set forth.
-l. In u dischar,\.;'ii1gy device the combination of two oh lione walls opposite one another, movably arranged lower parts ol said walls, rollers :it the rop und near the botl'onl ot said walls, rails on which said rollers rest, inclined plates below suid luovably arranged walls, bolts adapted lo keep said movubly arranged walls in the closed position, springs uctiugon said bolts, means to withdraw-said bolts,
und moans to Inuit. the outward and upward movement of movubly arranged lowcr zontaliy situated shafts attached to said bolts, hand levers xed oil-said shafts and projections suitably adapted to limit the outward and upward movement-of the walls, substantially as und for the purpose setforth.
6. In a discharging device, the combination of two oblique 4walls opposite one another, movahly arranged lower parts of said walls, rollers af thetop and near the bottom of said walls, inclined rails on which the upper rollers move, horizontal rails on which the lower roliers move, inclined plates below said walls, bolts adapted to keep snid walls/in the closed position springs acting on said bolts,
horizontally arranged shafts rigidly connected to said bolts, hand levers fixed on said shafts and projections adapted to limit the otward and upward movement ofthe this 18th day of February 1907, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
