Description

PATRICK OTHAYNE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO IIIMSELF AND D. W. CANFIELD, OF THE SAME PLACE.
Letters Patent No. 85,845, dated Janna/ry 12, 1869.
IMPROVED CRTAIN-FIXTURE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, PATRICK OTHAYNE, of New York, in the county of New York, and State of New York,`have invented a new and improved .Window- Shade Fixture; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to niakeand use the same, reference being' had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure l represents a transverse section oi' my improved window-shade fixture.
Figure 2 is a side view of the sliding` portion of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
This invention relates to certain improvements on the window-shade fixture for which an application for a patent was filed on the 26th day of October', by Patrick O'lhayne and D. W. Canfield.
The object of the present improvement is to avoidV the clamping of the vscrew against the back of the main plate, whereby, in the aforesaid application, lthe slide was fastened. In the present case, the clamping is done against both sides of the flanges or guides, formed on the main plate, by means of a recessed nut on the screw-handle, and by a shoulder on the screw. The
clamping will thereby be more reliable than by the screw alone, and will not tend to injure the main plate.
A, in the drawing, represents the main plate of the It is made of sheet-metal, or other suitable material, and is provided with J[langes or guides, a a, at the sides, as usual.
' B is the slide working on the guides a, its sides being grooved to receive the guides, as shown.
C is a screw, with a knob, b, at its upper end.
- This screw fits with itslower end into the slide or nut B, and has a shoulder, c, formed on it.
There the screw enters the nut, a portion of the latter is cut away, so that the shoulder cmay be brought directly against the guides a, as is clearly shown in Iig. 1. The clamping is thus done by thenut B and the shoulder c of the screw.
1) is the roller for holding the cord. 1t is put on P. OTHAYNE.
