PERCY H. SAYORY, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PAPER FOR WATER-CLOSET PURPOSES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 2, 1907.
Application filed January 7, 1907. Serial Nil-351,061.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be itknown that -I, PERCY H. SAVORY, a subject of the King of England, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have in vented a certain new and useful Improvement in Papers for Water-Closet Purposes, of which the following is a full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification. I
My invention relates to protective devices or covering, particularly to papers or other material to be used ticular arrangement being best shown on the accom panying drawing, in which Figure l shows a strip of paper after having been run through a cutting machine; Fig. 2 is a front view of the holder showing the paper supported thereon after having been folded, and Fig. 3 is a side view of the-supporting holder and paper.
The material from which the paper is prepared is in the form of a roll, and the'paper may then be run through a cutting machine to emerge in the form shown in Fig. 1. The paper after being out has oval openings 1, having substantially the contour of the opening in the closet seat, but somewhat smaller. Between the oval openings are the sets of transverse perforations 2 and 3, and between these lines are the sets of circular perforations 4 and 5. A tongue 6, may also be provided at the front end of the oval openings to further assist in protecting the user. After asuitable lengthof paper has been run through the cutting machine, it is folded lengthwise along the center line a and then the paper is folded transversely; along the lines I) and c, that is, the paper is first folded along the'line a and then folded accordion fashion along the transverse lines b and c, so that after the folding operation, the circular perforations 4 and 5,
.and the perforation lines 2 and 3, will be in register and appear at the top of the folded pack. In other words, after folding, the edges along the lines c will be board 7, having lugs 8, by means of which it may be secured to the support or wall 9. Extending from the backboard 7, along the upper edge thereof are the screws 10, spaced to enter the perforations 4 and 5, when the pack is applied to the holder. The'strap 11 is then applied over the screws 10, and by means ofihumo nuts 12, is drawn to securely clamp the pack to the backboard or holder 7. The strap 11 is of such width that the perforation lines 2 and 3, are just below the edge thereof, and when a section of the paper is to be used, it can readily be detached along the perforation line. Y
Byfolding the paper as described the device is of a convenient size foruse in public buildings, but I do not wish to belimited to the manner of folding described, as the paper after being cut may be folded in any manner to obtain a pack of any desired shape or size, and the pack can be made small enough to be conveniently carried in the pocket. The paper may be also specially prepared to be antiseptic, and by the use of this paper, water closets can be used with safety without danger of coming in contact with disease germs or vermin. Any form of holder also may be employed.
I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent.
1. A rectangular pack or bundle of sections of antiseptic material formed by folding longitudinally a long con tinuous band of sections, then folding said sections transversely or accordion fashion, each section when detached from the puck and unfolded presenting a suitable opening for adapting the section as a protective cover on seats of water closets.
2. A pad composed of a plurality of closet seat covers or sections ofnntiseptic paper, or the like, mounted upon a holder. and formed by folding longitudinally a long continuous band of'perr'oratcd sections, then foldingsaid sections transversely or accordion fashion, each section having suitable openings or perforations adapted to register to thereby facilitate the detachment of the individual sections from the holder.
il. in combination, a holder. 21 pack or bundle of paper sections mounted upon the holder, said pack or bundle being; formed by folding longitudinally a long continuous bond of paper. then folding said sections transversely or accordion fashion, there being perforution lines upon each section adapted to register whereby the sections may be detached from the holder, oach section having a suitable opening for adopting" the suction when detached and un folded to be used as a protective cover on water closet seats.
4. In combinalion, a holder. a pack or bundle of paper sections mounted upon the holder, sold pack or bundle being formed by folding longitudinally u long; continuous hand of paper. [hon ioldiiif: said sections transversely or accordion fashion. l'hcrc bciuc; perforation lines upon each section adapted to rcgisicl' whereby the sections may be detached from the holder, cur-h section having a suitable opening for adapling lhc scciion when detached and um folded to be used as a protective cover on water closet seats, there being a tongue for each section for extending downwardly from the front edge of the section opening when the section is applied to the seat.
' scams 5. In combination, a holder, a pack or bundle of paper sections mounted upon the holder, said pack or bundle being formed by folding longitudinally and transversely a long continuous band of sections, there being perforation lines upon two ends of each section adapted to regis ter when said sections are folded whereby the sections may be detached from the holder, there being circular openings upon said sections for registering when the sections are folded to facilitate mounting of the sections, each section having an oblong opening for adapting the section when detached and unfolded to be used as a pro tective cover on water closet sea-ts, there being a tongue for each section forextending downwardly from the front edge of the section opening when the section is applied to the seat.
6. A pad or bundle composed of a plurality of closet seat covers or sections of antiseptic paper mounted upona holder having a member 11, said bundle being formed by folding a long continuous band of sections longitudinally and transversely or accordion fashion, each seption having perforation lines adapted to register when said sections are folded, said perforation lines appearing a slight distance below the member 11 when mounted upon the holder thereby to facilitate the detachment of the sections trom the holder, each section having an oblong opening tor registering with the closet seat.
In witness whereof, I hereunto subscribe my name this 4th day of January, A. D. 1907.
PERCY H. SAVORY.
