' SUIT-HANGER- Specification of Letters fatent. Application filed August 6, 1906. Serial No. 329.330.
Patented May 21, 19Q7.
' To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANnERs HOLMER, a subject of the King of Sweden, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suit-Hangers, of which the following is a specification.
- and secured thereto is a trousers hanger, said The object of this invention is the production of an improved combined coat and trousers hanger.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a combined coat and trousers hanger embodying the features of my invention. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a sectional view taken on the plane of dotted line 3 3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a section on dotted line 4 4. of Fig. 3.
The embodiment herein shown of my invention comprises a cross-bar 1 pro erly shaped to support a coat, the ends 0 said cross-bar being adapted to be inserted beneath the shoulders of the coat in the usual manner. Located beneath said cross-bar hanger being formed of an integral piece of wire of suitable gage, the ends of said wire forming attaching posts 2 extending into and secure within openings (not shown) in the lower side of the cross-bar 1. The middle portion of the wire is bent to form two arms 3, each of said arms being doubled over upon itself so that the forward and rear portions 3 and 3 thereof lie substantially parallel and relatively close to each other.
As shown in the drawings, each of the armportions 3 and 3 is double, providing a wider caring u on the trousers-legs than would be obtained by the use. of an arm formed of a single strand of wire. wire in each of said arm-portions lie in sub stantially the same vertical plane, as shown The two strands of in Figs. 3 and 4, the lower strand or member of the rear arm-portion 3 being bent or offi r set to pass behind the upper member of said.
arm-portion as seen in ig. 3. A hook 4 fixed to thecross-bar 1 provides means for suspending the suit-hanger 'from any convenient or suitable support.
In use the crossbar 1 receives the coat, and the lower ortions of the trousers-legs are secured in t e trousers-hangerby inserting the creased sides between the armportions 3 and 3 I represented in Fig. 2. The double thickness of the lower ends of the trousers-legs provides sufficient thickness of material above the arms 3 to prevent the trousers from slipping out of the trousers-hanger. The ortion of the suit-hanger herein designate as the trousers-hanger maybe used to su port a skirt, thewaist portion of the skirt eing inserted into the double arms 3 in the manner hereinbefore described for trousers.
I claim as my invention: v In a suit-hanger, in combination a crossbar and a trousers-hanger secured to said cross-bar, said trousers-hanger being formed of an integral pieceof wire, the ends of which of each of the arms 3, as
form attaching posts secured to the under \7.1
side of said cross-bar, the middle portions of the wire being bent to provide two arms each com rising two arm-portions lying relative y near each other, each of said arm-portions consisting of two members, the outer ends of said double arms being closed and the two members of each of said arm-portions lying in substantially the same vertical plane. ANDERS HOLM R.
