Description

No. 847,012. PATENTED MAR. 12, 1907. S. KORPER.

APPLICATION FILED NOV. 20, 1906.
UNITED STATES. PATENT OFFICE.
SIMON KORPER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
MANICUR ING IMP!.EMENT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 12, 1907.
Application filed November 20, 1906- Serlal No. 844,196.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIMON KORPER, a citizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the borough of Manhattan, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Manicuring Implements, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a manicuring implement in which they advantages of two diferent implenmnts are combined so as to facilitate the manicuring of the nails; and the invention consists of a manicuring implement which comprises a handle portion, a fiat beveled portion having a layer of abrasive material at one end, and a skin and nail treating device at the opposite end of the handle.
In the accompanying 'drawinga'Figure represents a front view of my improved manicuring implement, showing combination of nail, file and treating tool. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same. Figs. 3 and 4 are transverse sections on lines 3 3-and 4 4, respectively, Fig. 1; and Figs. 5, 6, and 7 are lfferent views showing the combination of the nail-file with different treating-tools.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the several figures.
My improved manicuring implement is preferably made of wood, celluloid, or pearl and composed of a middle portion or handle a and a flat beveled portion bat one end'of the handle, which is covered at one or both sides with a layer of abrading material c, such as finely-pulverized emery, secured thereto by means of some adhesive substance, such as glue, so as to form a file for 'middle or handle portion,
the nails. One side instead of being provided with a layer of abrasive material may be provided with a layer of chamois or similar material for polishing the nails.
At the opposite end of the handle portion a is arranged a tapering point (i for cleaning the nails or a flattened portion 2, e, or c with a round, straight, or inclined end, respecwith abrasive material so as to be used for a nail-file, and a nail and skin treating device formed at the opposite end of the handle.
2. A manicuring implement comprising a middle portion or handle, a flat beveled portion at one end of the same provided at one side with an abrasive substance and at the other side with a soft polishing layer, and at the opposite end of the handle a nail and skin treating device.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name pr'esence of two subscribing witnesses.
SIMON KORPER. Witnesses: PAUL GoEPEL, HENRY J. SUHRBIER.
