Description
PATENTED FEB. 5, 1907.
T. V. STRUBLB.
ADJUSTABLE'FOLDING HORSE.
APPLIOATIOK FILED JUNE so, 1906.
INVENTOR A TTORNE Y rinrrn snares Parana @FFIGR ADJUSTABLE FOLDING HORSE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 5, 1 907.
Application filed June 30, 1906. Serial No. 324,145.
To all whom it puny concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS V. STRUBLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Echo Lake, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful 1m rovements in Adjustable Folding Horses, which the following is a specification, reference being bad therein to the accompanying drawings.
The object of my invention is to provide a horse for builders and others which will beextensibla the legs being capable of adjustment as to rlength, connected by adjustable extensible braces, and ,hinged to the cross-beam, with means for locking said legs rigidly to said cross-beam, the whole horse being so constructed that it may be folded up when not in use into a compact package, occupying but little room, and which maybe carried conveniently from place to place.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
Figure 1 is a side view, and Fig. 2 an end View, of my horse, the dotted lines showing the legs extended. Fig.3 is a plan view show ing the horse when folded together, and Fig. 4 is asectional view on the line A A in F ig. 3.
The main legs 2 are hinged to the U-shaped plate 12, which is in turn hinged to the U- shaped plate 11, which is secured to the can rying or cross beam 1. The hinge-pin 13 connects the Ushaped plates 11 and 12, which permits the legs to be moved to and from the cross-beam 1. An auxiliary hinge 16 is employed to lock the hinged legs from moving when they are held apart by the extensible braces 7 and 8, one leaf of said hinge 16 being secured to the legs 2 and the other leaf projecting parallel and in contact with one side of the U-shaped )late 12, against which it is held by the thurn screw 17. EX- tension-legs 3 are slidably secured to the main legs 2 by the bands. 4 and 5 and screw 6. One part 7 of the leg-braces is secured on the ivot 9 on the band 5, and the brace 8 has a 00k 10 to engage the eye 10 when the said braces are rigidly held in the desired position by the screw 10*. The straps 14 are hinged-t0 the plate 12 by the pin 15.
A horse of the construction shown may be adjusted'to any height desired and avoid the necessity of having'lhorses of various sizes, and the parts may be built so as to be durable and strong.
lrVith this description of my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A folding extensible horse, having a crossbeam, extensible legs, a U-shaped bracket or plate, adapted to clasp said cross-beam, and hinged to said legs, a similar U-shaped bracket or plate hinged to the first-mentioned U- shaped bracket and secured to said crossbeam, extensible braces connecting said legs in pairs, means for locking said braces, means for locking the sliding portions of said legs, a
a pair of legs and means for locking the other leaf in contact with one side of the Ushaped bracket to which the legs arehinged torigidly hold said legs in relation to the cross-beam, substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signiature in presence of two witnesses.
THOMAS V. STRUBLE.
