The schedule ferme-m nl time Lem Pai-.ent ma mung pm of en me To all 'whom 'it may concern:
v invented new and useful Improvements in Chur-ns; and ,.l..do;hereby Ydeclarethat, the.,folloningis .aifull and complete description of the construction and operationofthe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawingamaking part ,of this specification, in which- Figurel is a lvertical section,
Figure 2 is a transverse section, and v Figure 3 is a perspective view of the dasher.
l `Like letters refer to like parts.
The body of the churn is constructed in the usual form, of any suitable material. I B B show the upright parts of the frame; E is .the cross-head, to hold the upper end of the dasher-shaft A; Si is the pinion; I is the driving-wheel, and J its sha The frame is made of Wood; the cross-head E is framed into the standard B B, and the frame is secured to. the churn-body by means of loops or sockets, F, which are fastened to the churn-body. f
On the inside of the churn, and on its opposite sides, I place four pieces, a. a a c, which I call breakers, made in the form of the letter v, as shown, and which are rmly secured to the' churn, and reaching about half 'way up its sides from 'the' bottom. In the, centre of the .bottom of the churn is a pin, c', upon which the dasher stands and rotates.
` Fig. 3 is a perspective view ofthe dasher. The lower end of. the shaft A is made in the form of a. frustum of a pyramid, on two opposite sides of`whch are attached two wings, A A', which stand obliquely toward the shaft y Y.
In rotating the dasher in che direction of the arrow in fig. 2, by means of the gear-wheels H and rI, the cream is thrown against the breakers, and the butter thus separated.
Wheurotated in the opposite direction, the butter is gathered or collected into balls or masses.
In order to remove thedasher from the churn, the pins that hold the horizontal shaft in place are taken out, and the shaft displaced. The dasher-shaft, with the dasher, is then removed, and, if desired, the frame B B E can be displaced also.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The dasher AA', when constructed vsubstantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
2. The dasher, when constructed asl described, in combination with the breakers a a c a, as specified.
3. The combinationoi the body, the fame B, the dasher A A', and the breakers c c a a, as and for the purposes set forth.
