To all whonb it may concern:
Be it known that I, NZAT HA N IEL H, BROWN, a citizen of the United States,,residin at the city of Philadelphia, in the county Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania have invented certain new and useful Improvements be advertised for the benefit vention will be more in Revolvin Exhibit-Display Apparatus, of which the to lowing is a specification. I Y
My invention relates 'to a revolving exhibit-display apparatus for store use in dis laying changing fashions or styles and also or use as a means of advertising the same by illulnined panel means applied thereto, and in such connection my invention has relation to the constructive arrangement of the apparatus and in connection therewith of t e manner of exhibiting by illumined' displays:
the article to attract or the information to the pnblic. r I
My invention, stated-in general terms, consists of a revoluble ilhimined display apparatus constructively arranged for operation substantially in scribed and claimed.
'. The nature and sec e of my present inliilly understood from the accompanying drawin s, as an illustration of salient features of t esaid invention, in whioh- Figure 1 is an elevational view of arevoluble 9. paratus for illumined display exhibits fora vertising and other purposes embodying main-features of my said invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical central sectional view of Fig. l, showin the manner of supporting the exhibit-d.1splay device of my invention so ssto berevolved, a means for illumining the 0pm ue figured or other ty e of glass panels of the evice from the inside: thereof and the box-hire base of the device above which the display device is supported, and in which base is lo cated the actuating mechanism of the revolv ing dorice. Fi 3 is a horizontal sectional view through tli illumined display device, and Fig. 4: is a similar view of the base of said device.
- wood or metal in skeleton form and Referring to the drawings, A represents a SIX or more sided device having openin s or panels in each side and the device ma e of vided with an inclined complemental sided hood 0/ havin an o eni-n o in'the to for I g P e P a purpose to be presently explained.
or advantage of the manner hereinafter ie-- B is the box-like base for supporting, by means of a shaft bf, journaled in the bottom and top of the same in bearings b and b, providsd internally thereof, the said device A.
The shaft 1) extends into the displa device 7 able electric motor C, held in a fixed position within the base B, as clearly illustrated, for example, in Fig. '4. The starting and'stopping of the motor, as will be well understood, is
controlled by an ordinary knife-switch. (Not shown.) To one of the sides of the base B is fixed thereto by means of brackets (Z and (1's vertical tube D, provided with a T-union 3", extending into the base. At the up er end of the tube-D by means of unions d t -e same is formed into a ri ht-angular extension d which is extended 1; erefrom in a downwar' direction at at through the opening a of the device A, from which is suspended by means of a clamp d a. rod e, carrying a series of adjustable brackets e at suitable distances apart, snpportin incandescent lamps c therefrom with t ieir line connections 5 and 6. These connections extend through the tube D and into the base B through the T- anion d and connect therefrom with a suitable source of electric energy, (not shown,) whereby when the current is turned on and the motor is in action by the operating of the" switch controllingthe same the device A will be rotated, and at the same time the device .iil. hi hly illumined from the interior, whlch is re, eoted through the glass panes a of the device A, thereby exposing to View in a hi lily-attractive manner the advertising or ot or matter contained on the different series of glass panes of the device.
The illumination of the device from the inside reflected through the panes thereoi' may be varied at pleasurd-that is, on a dissolving principle or by momentary increase or decrease of the intensity ol the illnznl'nm tron, according to the degree oi rotation and desire to secure within said cylinder, light-emitting means panels sn 2 see the device, as well as position ofsides with respect to other sides, dependent upon situation of the device the best effects from advertising or advantagg standpoints, in the use thereof.
a ing thus described the nature and object ofmy invention what I claim as new, by Letters Patent, is- 1. In a dis lay a paratus, a base, a shaft arranged wit in and terminating above said base, a display-cylinder hayin transparentported by said shaIt, a support connects with said base and terminating suspended from said support within. said cyldr and held stationary by the same and means arranged in said base adapted to rotate said shaft and by the same said cylinder around said light-emitting means.
2. In adis lay a paratus, a base, a shaft arranged wit in an terminating above said the and having an openin for the obtaining of sup 1 nating within said cylinder by passing through an opening thereof, a rod suspended from panels supported by the free en'dof said shaft,
at the upper end, a I
ort connected wit said base and termi-' said support within said cylinder having brackets, light-emitting means carried by said brackets and held stationary by the. ,same, a worm-wheel secured-to said shaft,a worm-shaft meshin with said worm-wheel, 'said worm-shaft, W en rotated, adapted to rotate said worm-wheel and by the same .said shaft and cylinder aroundsaid lightemitting means and when stationary locking said cylinder in a given position.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my signature in .tlie' presence'of two subscribing witnesses. v
NATHANIEL H. BROWN.
