UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE. I
AMANN, OF-CINOINNATI, OHIO, ASSIGNOR or oN -HALr-To,

' PACKAGE-TIE.
Specificatiomof LettersPatent.
Patented Nov. 13,1906.
' Application filed October 23, 1902i Serial No 128.499.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES H. AMANN,"a
resident of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Package-Ties and I do hereby declare the following to beafull, clear, and'exact description of the invention such as will enable others skilled in the art ,to which it appertains to sists in certain novel features of construction a and combinationsand arrangements of parts,
,' as will be more fully hereinafter described,
' and pointed out inf'the claim.
thereof tongues 4 each In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view illustrating one embodiment of my in-. vention. Figs. a and 3 are detail views 1 represents a package or bundle, 2 a bind- .ing-cord, and 3 represents one form of my fastener or tie, which comprises a metal plate of any shape desiredprovided at op osite sides with spring clamping-tongues 4. besecompri'se a strip of spring metal, preferably integral ;with the plate, bent down against the plate, forming one clamp 6, and again bent upon itself forming a second clamp 5 the end of the tongue being ally opposite edges of the .moved from, said tongues, and a cord, having its intermediate portion'passing preferably flared upward slightly for the free admission'of the binder 2.
Openings 7 are provided in the plate opposite to each other, so that the binder can be passed through thembefore passage around the package. The ends of the binder are then crossed and brought around the ends of the package and forced into the respective 'clamps 6 and then over -into clamps 5, thus securing the binder against possibility of slipping. The binder may of, course be assed around the package and through. the
, astener or tie in various'other ways, as best suits the convenience of the user, the essential feature of the invention being the double spring-clamp to secure the binder.
Having fully described my invention,- what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A package-tie comprising a plate having integral tongues projecting from diametriclate, said tongues bent-inwardly over the plate and then out-' wardly upon themselves, said plate. haying holes in proximity to itsedges farthest re thrdugh said holes and having both of its" ends secured by the folds of said integral tongues.
In testimony whereof I have' 'signed' this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses;
