. l 2, the member 2 being movable in t I UNITED STATES P TENT lid. 825,737.
Specification of Letters Patent. Application flied November 8,1906. Serial No. 285,717.
Patented July 10, 1906.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS LAUTHER, a citizen of the United States, and .a resident of Tarentum, in the county of Allegheny and Stateof Pennsylvania, have invented a new I and Improved Curtain-Fixture, of which thefollowing is'a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in fixtures for su porting window shades and curtains, the o ject being to provide a fixture of sim le construction that may be hed to a window-casing andadjustable to different widths of casings.
I will describe a curtain-fixture embodying in invention and then point out the novel eatures in the appended claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts mall the figures.
Figure 1 is a front view of a curtain-fixture embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a section Fig; 3 is a section on the line y'yofFig. 1, and Fig. 4 is a sectional detail showing an adjusting mechanism employed.
The fixture comprises two telescolpic rods e member 1, and the said member 2 is provided with a rack 3, engaged by a segment-gear 4, which'is mounted to swing on the rod member 1 and passes through a slot 5 in said member 1. The segment is provided with an operatinghandle 6. Connected to the member 1 is a yoke 7, having its ends turned inward and then longitudinally of the rod, forming spikes 8 for engaging in the side of the window-casing, and the member 2 of the rod is provided Mounted on the yokes 7 and 9 are brack-.
ets 10 'for receiving pintles of a shade-roller,
' and secured to the outer edge of the windowcasing by means of the inwardly-turned ortime of the yokes are upwardly-exten 'ng' plates 14, the said plates bein provided with perforations through which t e parts 8 pass as, clearly indicated in Fig. 2, and extends forward from the upper end of each plate 14 is an arm 15, provi ed with perforations 16 for receiving a curtain-pol'e-snpporting device consistin of a wire 17, having a curved outer end 18 or receiving the pole, and the inner end'is turned downward, as indicated at 19, then lengthwise of the arm 15, and then upward, as indicated at 20. By providin a series of perforations 16 in the arms it is o vious that the pole-supporting devices may be adjusted as to height or distance from the window-casing and held as adjusted by passing the portions 19 through'perforations and the portions 20 through perforations in ward of the perforations through which the portions 19 ass, as clearly indicated in Fig. 3. Having t us described my invention, I claimas new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1 1. A curtain-fixture comprising telescopic members, yokes on the ends of said members and having hook portions for engaging in a window-casing, and adjustablepurtain-polesupporting devices secured in position by 8&1 hook portions.
sisting of telescopic members, a rack-and-segment mechanism for adjusting said members, windowcasin -'engaging devices on said members, sha e-roller brackets on said engaging devices, and curtain-rod supports se cured in place by said casing-engagmg devices.
2. A curtain-fixture comprising a polecon- 3. A curtain-fixture comprisin a pole or rod consisting of telescopic mem ers, yokes on the ends of said members, the saidyokes having inwardly-turned ortions and also having spike ortions, p ates arranged between the win ow-casing and said mwardlyturned dportions of the yokes arms extendedforwar from the upper ends of said plates and provided with perforations, and polesupporting devices having ortions for engagmgin perforations of sai arms.
v curtain-fixture comprising a pole or rod, consisting of telescopic members, w1ndevices mounted on do'w-casing-engagin said mem ers, s a e-roller brackets on said engaging devices, and curtain-supporting de-y vices secured in place by said casing-engage-' ment devices.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
' THOMAS LAUTHER.
