Be it known that l', REN llnNnr, a citizen of the Republic oi France, residing at ivlontreal, in the district oi" Montreal, Province of Quebec, Canada, have invented cer` tain new and uselul improvements in Steam- (lenerators, of uh iication.
My invention relates to improvements in sten11i-generators, partieularl)A referring to the circula!ing-tubes therefor; and the object. ot' the invention is to generator cheap to manufacture, whereby the arrangement of the`tubes will facilitate the circulation oi" the water and steam in such a manner as to insure econolnjin luel and render the repairing or replacing of a tube a simple matter; and it consists. essentially, of a plurality oi' tubes having closed outer ends, om` or more heads provided with an internal passage, a pluralit)Y ot plugs extending across the said passage in alineinent with the tubes and designed to support centralljv lesser tubes open at both ends and projecting into the aforesaid tubes, suitable )lugs closing the entrances in the head or heads to eaeh open plug, and voir surmounting the tubes, the various parts being constructed and arranged ir :.le.- tail, as hereinafter more particularl) described.

It must be here understood that in the outg sidel heads the closed end ot' the reservoir I* Ina-v be solid with the casting or provided with removable cover-plates.

Having described the various parts in detail, I shall now more particular-l)r explain the device in operation. The water is turned on into the-common feed-pipe and branches oil' into the several feed-pipes ln, filling the lowermost end ot each head a, and, continuing its flow, passes through the inner tube j, the mouth ol" the latter being ilush ith the partition-wall g. The 'flow continuing, the Wa.- ter passes out. oi the inner tube and is turned backwardl;Y by the closed end oi theouter tube rf. The Withdrawal ot thc plugf removes the pressure on` the end of the tube, leaving it comparatively loose in the orifice to be teken out.
It must be understood thzitl do not conl'ine myself in construction to this ltapered joint, es many other ways may be adopted equally eliicacious.
The position of the tubes makes it impossible for the combustible properties from the tire to rsscend in my but t tortuous psssege, thus securing the hill advantage of n large heating eren.
The reversal of the plugs lending` to the upper tubes is for the purpose. of superheeting the stes-m, and though it cannot be :iccuretely stated, yet it is supposed that the Wnter is flashed into steam very soon after entrance'.
rllhe application ol' this system of circulating-tubes need not necessarily be confinedv to s generator, as illustrated, it will be reedily understood that it may be used in en ordinary Water-tube boiler, or for radiators, or in fact, in any case where such circulation is a necessity.

ln further reference to the adoption ol'` my circulation-tubes l may mention that'the facilities provided for easy repair and the certainty ol' :i perfect circulation in nach series multe this system very valuable for hot-wc ter furnaces used in heating houses by ges, for ammonia-condensers, for ice and-refrigereting plants, particularly as to the elimination of the joints, for surface condensers for condensing-engines, for feed-water heaters, for serpentine for alcohol distilleries and breweries, rendering it easy to clean 'the tubes inside,l\vhich is new impossible.
Another point to emphasize in my generetor inthe advantage of passing the Waterirst through the inner tube in entrance, sind thus' heating it before it comes in contact With the outer tube.
