poker whereon is mounted a reciprocating tubular member carrying grippingdingers at one end adjacent and in opposed relation to the bend or hook of the poker and which may be moved longitudinally of the poker to rip a clinker between the fingers and the heel( of the poker.
With these and other objects in view the present invention consists in the combination and arrangement of arts, as will be hereinafter fully described, s own in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the a pended claims, it being understood that c anges in the form, proportion, size, and minor details may be made Without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacriiicing any of its advantages.
ln the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved clinker-catcher. (Fig. 2 is a detail longitudinal sectional view of the ingers and attaching device. Fig. 3 is a Jransverse sectional view taken on line 3 3 of ike characters of reference designate corresponding parts lthroughout the several views.
ln its preferred embodiment the improved clinker-catcher forming the subject-matter of this application comprises a poker embodyin a rod 10, having a hook 11 bent at one end, and preferably with a very short backwardly-turned extremity 12, and with a handheld of any ap roved form at the other end, as 13. Upon the rod 10 of the oker is mounted the tubular handle mem er 14, somewhat shorter than the interval between the hook 11 and handheld 13 of the poker.
At the end adjacent the handheld 13 the tubular handle 1s rovided with any approved form of handho d, as the handle 15, and adjacent-the end opposite a notch 16 is formed 1n the external surface of the tube. Upon the tube is placed a member 17, provided with a semicylindrical recess, within which is formed the lug 18, proportioned to fit and engage the notch 16. The member 17 is provided with downwardly and forwardly curved fingers 19 19', and the member is secured upon the tubeby a clamping member 20, secured thereto, as by screws or rivets, as 21, which because of the llug 18 being engaged within the notch 16 prevents displacement ci the member 17. The formation of the iin ers is such that the are disposed normaly upon either side oi the hook 11; but as the poker is rotatable within the tube the 'hook may assume any position relative to the iin ers.
Whi e the fingers have been illustrated and described as being formed separate from and attached to the tubular handle, it is obvious that they may be formed integral.`
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed isy y 1. A clinker-catcher comprising a poker embodying a rod having a grip at one'end and a laterally-turned hook at the opposite end, a tube mounted and movable rotatably and slidably upon the rod, spaced ingers carried by the tube in' opposed relation to the hook, and a grip upon the tube adjacent the grip of the poker. v
2. A clinker-catcher comprising a poker embodying a rod having a grip at one end and a laterally-turned hook at the end opposite a tube slidably mounted upon the poker, a grip carried by theltube adjacent the grip of the poker, a member provided with engaging fingers at the end of the tube opposite the rlip, and a clip engaging and'clamping the ger member upon the tube.V
