Description

ter whether indoors or out.
PATRICK A. CADOGAN, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
INSEOTICIDE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented. June 26, 1906.
Application filed January 24, 1906. Serial No. 297,636.
.To all whmn it may concern:
Be it known that I, PATRICK A. CADOGAN, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Insecticides, of
which the following is a specification.
My composition consists of the following ingredients combined in the proportions statedviz., tincture of larkspur, one ounce; oil of cedar, two ounces; camphor, one-half ounce; spirits of turpentine, twelve ounces. These ingredients-are to be thoroughly mixed by agitation.
As an insecticide my composition is used to kill and exterminate insects, grubs, moths, bugs, spiders, and other pests of like charac- My ractice, preferably, is to nearly fill an eig t-ounce sprayer with the compound and to spray the same directly upon the insects. Its effect is practically instantaneous.
One great advantage of my invention is that it may be used anywhere in the house without soiling the walls thereof or the most delicate fabrics. It eva orates very quickly, and its odor lasts but a s ort time.
In the woods the comdpound may be applied to the face or han s, and provides an effective preventive to the bite of mosquitos, black flies, or the like.
I have found my invention of particular efficiency in removing the pests now becoming common in New England and known as the brown-tail .moth.and gipsy moth.
' When used as a disinfectant, the comound maybe applied in the manners well 'nown to the art. I prefer to use it in spraying wearing-apparel preparatory to packing the same away for the season in order to keep the clothes free from moths and have found that it serves every purpose. Where it is desired to guard against germs of disease, I find that in disinfecting sick-rooms and other places .where danger of infection is suspected the addition of a small quantity of calomel is advantageous.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is
An inse larks ur one ounce, oil of cedar two ounces, camp or one-half ounce, and spirits of turcticide consisting of tincture 'of' pentine twelve ounces, for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof I have allixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
