Be it known that I, ANsoN L. SoNN, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of the city of Troy, county of Rensselaer, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brushes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to brushes; and the object of my invention is to provide a brush in which the bristles are secured to the brushback in a positive and secure manner and present a neat and tasty appearance and which shall be inexpensive in construction and serviceable in operation. I attain these objects by' means of the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a plan; Fig. 2, a longitudinal I section along the lines X X on Fig. 1.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout both views.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of a substantially flat brush-back a plate having openings for bristles; a flange around the edge of said plate; composition placed upon said brush-back; bristles being embedded in said composition and passing through said openings in said plate; the flange on said plate being embedded in the brush-back.
