Be it known that I, ROBERT PALMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at l/Vaterbury, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Sash-Curtain-Rod Brackets; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and

My invention relates to' an improvement in sash-curtain-rod brackets, the object being to produce at a low cost for manufacture a simple, convenient, and compact device of neat appearance constructed with reference to being used so as to stand in line with the rod or at a right angle thereto.

WVith these ends in view my invention consists in a sash-curtain-rod bracket having certain details of construction, as will be hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.

In carrying out my invention as herein shown my improved bracket is made from a single piece of sheet metal struck up to form two yielding skeleton arms 2, corresponding to each other in size and form arranged opposite each other and having at their outer ends cup-like seats 3, terminating in outwardlyflaring, crescent-shaped lips 4. The said arms 2 are bent forward from and stand at substantially a right angle to a flat body 5, which is extended at its ends, by perforated fastening-arms 6, cut out from the bases of the said arms 2, leaving thereat the openings 7, which give the arms their so-called skeleton form and make them more yielding. The said arms are spread apart from each other at their bases, their outer ends being drawn together, as it were. The crescentshaped lips 4 stand opposite each other and together form a virtually circular front entrance 8 into the socket-like space formed by the cup-like seats 3, while the edges of the seats are concaved, as at 9, to form two vir tually circular side entrances 10 into the s0cket-like space inclosed by the seats 3.

The rod, which may be of any approved construction, consists, as shown, of an outer tube 1 l, telescoping within an inner tube 12, the ends of the respective tubes being furnished with balls 13, adapted in size to be entered into the socket-like spaces inclosed by the cup-like seats 3 of the yielding arms 2 of the brackets. The said balls 13 are free to turn in the said socket-like spaces of the brackets, which by having the front and side entrances 8 and 10 can be placed so as to stand at aright angle to or in line with the rod.

I claim 1. A sash-curtain-rod bracket made from a single piece of metal and comprising a body and two corresponding yielding arms terminating at their outer ends in cup-like seats having substantiallycircular front and substantially circular side entrances.

2. A sash-curtainrod bracket made from a single piece of sheet metal and consisting of a body having fastening-ears and two yielding skeleton arms spread at their bases and setting toward each other at their ends and formed at their ends with cup-like seats having substantially circular front and substantially circular side entrances, and the said ears being cut out from the bases of the said arms.
