Description

J.- A; BLAKE.
FENCE. POST. I A'PBLIGAFIION FILED DEC. 27, 1905.
PATENTED MAR. 20, 1906.
INVENTOH 52% A. QUAKE ATTORNEYS- v "To all whom it may concern.-
UNITED STATES:
PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN, A. BLAKE, or woL'oorr, INDIANA.
' FENCE:-POST.'
Be it known that 1, JOHN A. BLAKE, a citi-- zen of the United States, and a resident of jWolcott, in the county of White andState of Indiana, have invented certain new and userovements in Fence-Posts, 'of which 1 the fol owingis a specification.
My invention is an improvement in concrete fence-posts; and it consists in certain novel constructions and combinations of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
Inthe drawings, Figure 1 is a side view, and
v I Fig. 2 a face view, of a post embodying my invention; Fig. 3 isa cross-section on'about line 3 3 of Fig. 1.- Fig. 4-is a cross-sectionon' about line 4 4 of Fig.2.
incorporate therein longitudinal reinforcingwires B brackets C for supporting and spacing said wires apart, both in the operation of molding the post-body and in the completed post, the staples D for securing the fencewires, and a spacer E, the wires B and s 'acer E extending longitudinally of the postody, and the brackets C and staples D extending transversely thereof, as shown in thedrawmgs. The'brackets C are provided with notches or seats" C and (1?, in which the wires Brest when in the post-body, and the brackets are provided'at one edge with deflected feet C whereby they 'may stand upright within the mold in the operation of molding the post.
The spacer E, which is'shown in the form of a plate, extends longitudinally of the postbod A, projects at one edge beyond the face of tfie body, and is provided in its projecting portion with apl uralty of seats E, in which the wires of the fence may be held in the use of the post. The staples D for securing the fence-wires are secured at their crown p'ortions D within the fence-body, bend at such portions or ends around the inner edges of the spacer E, and have their arms project for- Specification of Letters Patent.- Application filed December 27. 1996. Serial were.

port'the wires B within the mold in the operation of molding the post, the said posts being also provided with simple and effective means for securing the fenc'ewires in the use of the post in fencing. I I 65 Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- I 1. The improved fence- 0st gherein de scribed, comprising the b0 y, the reinforc- 7o ing-wires extending longitudinally therein,
the brackets transversely within the body and having notches forming seats for the reinforcing-wires, the spacer embedded at its inner edge within the body-and extending at its outer edge beyond the face thereof and having its outer edge provided with seats to receive fencin '-wires, and staples fitting at their inner en s around the inner edge of the t ence forwardly onopposite sides of the spacer andprojecting outwardly beyond the outer edge thereof andadapted to secure fence-wires, all' substantially as and'for the purposesse'tforth. j 5 2. 'A] concrete -fence-post com risin a body, brackets arranged transverse y wit iin the body and notchedin' their outer edges forming seats for the longitudinal reinforcing-wires, said notches opening generally in the same direction, whereby the reinforcingwires may rest thereinby gravity, and the paidh'reinforcing-wires, substantially as set ort JOHN A. BLAKE. Witnesses: I
JosiW. WILSTAGI-I, FRED Pianos.
