No. eraser. Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Feb. 29, 1906 Application filed Apriltjleea Serial in 258,983.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WALLACE M. LONG- STRETH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Terra Alta, in the county of Preston, State of West Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inCatamenial Sacks, of which the following is a description, reference being hadto the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of refer-- ence marked thereon.
My invention relates to that class of pads known as catamenial sacks.
The objects of the invention are to provide a, receptacle or holder for absorbent material which may be readi'lysterilized without injury to the material of the receptacle, to provide such a receptacle with a retaining means movable across its 0 en u per side to hold the absorbent materia in pl dce and yet not inconvenience the wearer, to form the receptacle of perforated sheet metalor of metallic wire in the form of an open cup in the upper open portion of which is pivoted the swinging retainer.
The objects I accomplish by the construction shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the invention in use. Fig. 2 is an enlargedperspective viewshowing the invention ready for use. Fig. 3 is a perspective viewof the invention with the retainer thrown'pbaclr ready to receive the absorbent materiaL-and Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view on line 4 4 of Fig. 2. p
, n the drawings, A designates the race tacle formed of a single length of meta c strip or wire and comprising the parallel curved side bars a a, formed at their rear ends with eyes a a and bent inwardly at their front ends, as at (JP-a thence upwardl "and rearwardl tp form catches a a and-t ence downwar 1y and rearwardly to form the curved bottom bars a a, which are connect.-
ed at their rear ends beyond the eyes a a) b the integral cross-bar a)". Thus an open-world metallic rece taole curved to fit the person is provided. he device is strengthened b means of transverse braces a a,b ent at their upper ends around'the sidebars a a and soldered to the under sides of the bottom bars rigidly secured together are prevented from being ressed together to the inconvenience anddiscomiort of the wearer.
solderedor otherwise rigidly unite V outwardly at its rear ends to form pivots b b, which are mounted to turn in the eyes a a, and permitting the retainer to. swing down into the upper open end of the sack or retainer to hold the antiseptic absorbent cotten. or other absorbent medium in place. When so swung down the front cross-bar b and is so held from accidental displacement. The absorbent material maybe readily retacle may be 'thorou hly cleansed without trouble and sterilized m the hottest wateror air without injuring. it or in any way changing its shape.
The front cross-pieces a? a form means for the attachmentoi the hooks c c of the front suspension-straps C C, and the rear cross-bar a is for the rear suspension-strap G.
The device has proven upon trial to be exceedingly comfortable to the wearer.
Having thus described my invention, what i claim as new, tors Patent, is v 41.. A catarnenial sack comprising a receptacle for absorbent material formed from a single length of wire bent to form two parallel side bars, two parallel bottom bars, and a catch at'the junction of said side bars with out material formed or a U-shaped length of wire ivoted at the ends of its arms to the side ars of the said receptacle and having its cross-bar adapted to engage with the above-mentioned catch, and meansto attach said receptacle to the person.
'2. A catamenial sack comprlsing an elona a. The side and bottom bars being then 3. In a catamemal sack, an elongated The front ends of the bottom bars a a are referably B is the curved U-shaped retainer, bent of the retainer snaps under the catches a? -moved for renewal, and the sack or recap-- gated curved receptacle for absorbent mate-- 8o andvdesire to secure by Lett said bottom bars, a retainer for said absorb- 7 curved, open-Work receptacle formed from ends to the side bars and at its front closed a single-length of wire bent to form the parand adapted to snap under said catch. 10

cross-bar and connected at their front ends WALLACE M.'LQNGSTRETH. t0 the front ends of the side bars by integral Witnesses: cross-pieces having catch-forming bends, M. R. EGBERT,
and a Ll-shaped retainer pivoted at its rear FRANK ZELLER.
