i Specification of Letters Patent No. 8,090, dated. May 13, 1851.

Be it known that I, `EZRA RIPLEY, of the city of Troy, county of Rensselaer, and State of New York, have made and invented a new and useful Improvement in the Mode of Hinging or` Hanging Doors by lwhich the Hinges are Concealed When the Door is Closed and the Inside of the Door not EX- posed Then Open; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,` clear, and exact" description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which make a part of this specification, in which-`- Figure l is a front elevation of thedoor and vjambs showing the appearance of the door when closed.` Fig. 2 is a view of the lback part of the door and j amb showingthe l manner in which the door isconnected to the jamb by the crane hinge. I construct my doors of any suitable ma terial adapted to the use to which said door is to be applied, and in the following manner, as shown in Fig. 3, in which A is the door attached to thejamb B by the crane hinge C, the door A being attached tothe hinge C by inserting the journals or tenons D D into the eyes E E, the eyes and door being all castin one piece, the said journals or tenons being secured and the door being prevented from being lifted off the journals of the hinge C by the small lug G cast on the faceplate F as seen in Fig. 4, and pass mgthrough a suitable aperture in the door A and far enough under the bottom jour-v nal or tenon Dof the crane hinge C Ito se.-
