JOHN G. FETZER, OF BRUNSWICK, ASSIGNOR' TO FE'IZER ANDWOODSON,
OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
Letters Patent No. 80,859, dated August 11, 1868.
IMPROVEMENT IN PLOWS.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: t I
Be it known that I, JOHN G. Fmznn, of Brunswick in the county of Oheriton, and State of Missouri, have made certainnew and useful Improvements in Flows; and I do hereby declare that the following. is a. full and clear description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The object of this invention is to produce a better and a. cheaper plow; and it consists in the introduction of u, east-iron coupling-plate, which is a part of the lnnd-side, and at the same time affords the means of attaching the said land-side and the mould-board and share together. The invention furthermore relates to an improved construction of the share. i
To enable those skilled in the art to make and use my improved plow, I will proceed to describe its construction and operation. p
Figure 1, of the drawings, is a perspective view of one of the improved plows, taken on the mould-board side thereof.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the land-side of the plow.
Figure 3 is a plan of the-improved coupling-piece, and the land-side, which is a part of it.
This plow may be constructed so as to be used in'a gang-plow combination, or singly, as in the accompany-y ing drawings. If used singly, the beam A and handlea will be of any approved form of construction. If' used in a gang-plow combination, the stock or framework of the plow-will be adapted to the circumstances.
The mould-board B will he epnstructed in any approved form. The land-side D has a triangular attachment, at d, whioll'serves for an assembling-plate, by means of which the land-side, mould-board, and share are coupled together. The whole of the parts, D d d, are of cast iron, and made in one single piece, the plan of which is clearly illustrated in fig; 3. The .part or bar d is pierced with holes, 6, for the reception of the bolts that are to hold the mould-board to it, and with holes, 0, that are to be usedfor the attaching-bolts of the share 0. The position of the parts D dd is illustrated in fig. 1, by the, dotted-lines. The share 0 is of the usual form of construction, except the lip 12, thet'is turned down on the land-sideofit, and thereby strengthens and stillens the point; The said lip c is formed of a piece of the end of the share, whieh'ds'simply bent down and wrought into the proper form, parallel with the land-side. v l
Having described my invention, what I claim, is
The land-side D, when constructed with the assembling-burs (Z and (Z, the whole being arranged as herein shown and described.
l JOHN G. FETZER.
