Description

msomaas. PATENTBD 001?. s, 1905. G. TEUBER.
ELECTRIC COOKING APPARATUS.
APPLICATION FILED APR. 27. 1905.

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.-
ELECTRIC COOKING APPARATUS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 3, 1905.
I Application filed April 27, 1905. Serial No. 257,765.
To a whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GUsTAv TEUBER, a sub ject of the German Emperor, and a resident of Laasphe, in the Province of \Vestphalia, in the German Empire, have invented new and useful Improvements in Electric Cooking Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an electric apparat s for stewing, grilling, or otherwisecooki food of various kinds.
One embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a vertical section of the apparatus. Fig. 2 is a plan showing the bottom heating-coil. Fig. 3 is an elevation of the apparatus. Fig; 4 is a diagram of the electric connections.
a is a receptacle, preferably enameled, around which a wire spiral c is coiled, (Z being a covering of asbestos or like heat-insulating substance. At the bottom of the receptacle a similarly covered heating-spiralis disposed, and the whole is inclosed in a casing Z).
ef g are the terminals of the coils, which are arranged electrically, as shown in the diagram Fig. i.
In order to increase the heating-surface, the sides and bottom of the vessel to present grooved or sinuous surfaces, the depressions in which at the same time serve to receive the wire coils 0. These heating members 0 consist of wire of any suitable description wound in the form of thin spirals. The asbestos covering prevents the radiation of heat and also aids in keeping the coils c in place.
It must be understood that I in no wise desire to limit myself to the precise form and construction shown, as the details may greatly vary without the essential features of the invention being departed from.
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. An electric cooking apparatus, comprising a vessel, the side walls and bottom of which are grooved to present a larger heating-surface, the groove in the sides running spirally in the manner of a screw-thread and the groove in the bottom running in the form of a flat spiral, a spirally-wound coil passing round the outside walls of the vessel and lying in the groove therein and a second spirally-wound coil lying in the spiral groove in the under side of the vessel, said coils being connected, whereby an electric current may be passed through them, substantially as described.
2. An electric cooking apparatus, comprising a vessel, the side walls and bottom of which are grooved to present a larger heating-surface, the groove in the sides running spirally in the manner of ascrew-thread and the groove in the bottom running in the form of a flat spiral, a spirally-wound coil passing round the outside walls of the vessel and lying in the groove therein, a second spirally-wound coil lying in the spiral groove in the underside of the vessel, said coils being connected, whereby an electric current may be passed through them, a heat-insulating covering protecting the coils, and a casing containing the vessel, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GUSTAV TEUBER.
