TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, D. M. STEWARD, of Dayton, in the county of Montgomery, and in the State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Car-Couplings; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exaet description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in the. manner of coupling cars by means of aT-shaped pin, the tongue of which falls into a slotted bar, thus doing away with the necessity of using springs or anything else that might'be affected by the weather.
I In order to enable others to make andiuse my invention, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, which form a part of this specification, and in whieh-- Figure 1 is a side'view, and

The T-shapedpin O is hung by its arms in the eye-holts a a, under the upper side of the coupling-box, and so arranged that its tongue falls down, in, and through the slot on the bar 13, and against the inner side of the entrance to the coupling-chamber, as shown in fig. 1.

The pin C, with handle D, fastened by,the eye-bolts a a, in combination with the slotted bar 13, which forms the coupling-chamber, all constructed and arranged substantially as described and for the purposes specified.
