Description
Wits/wao No. 794.399. PATENTED JULY 11, 1905.
G. ERXLEBEN. l
HOSE REEL BRACKET.
APPLICATION FILED JUNE 20, 1904.
UNITED. STATES Patented July 1I, 1905'.
GEORGE ERXLEBEN, OF NEV YORK, N. Y.
HOSE-REEL BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 794,399, dated July 11, 1905.
Application iiled June 20, 1904. Serial No. 213,406.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE ERxLEBEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hose-Reel Brackets; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of-the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention is an improved hosereel bracket for use for fire-extinguishing purposes in buildings and adapted to be secured to the water-pipes therein; and it consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a hose-reel bracket embodying' my improvements, showing the same attached to a water-pipe em bedded in a wall of a building; and Fig. 2 is a detail View of the same.
The hose-reel 1 is mounted for revolution between the arms2 of a frame 3, which frame is provided at its inner end with a pivot-head 4 of substantially cylindrical form or other suitable form and which is provided with a vertical cylindrical bore.
In connection with the frame 2 I provide a bracket-arm 5, which may be either of the form here shown or of any other suitable form. rI he same is provided at its upper end with a vertical pivot-stud 6 to engage the bore of the pivot-head of the frame 2 and has a base-shoulder 7 to bear against the under end of the said pivot-head to support the said frame. The upper portion of the pivot-stud is screw-threaded, and on the same is a nut 8, which bears on the upper end of the pivothead of the frame and serves to secure the latter in place on the pivot-stud. The lower end of the bracket-frame is recessed or rabbeted on opposite sides, as at 9, to receive a pair of clamp-irons 10, which are secured thereto by bolts l1 and which are provided with oppositely-disposed semicylmdrical offset portions 12, which project below the bracket-arm 5 and terminate in lugs or arms 13. The said offset portions are adapted to be placed on opposite sides of the horizontal arm of a T branch c of an. upright waterpipe just within the valve c and are firmly clamped on the said horizontal arm of the T branch b v a bolt 14, thereby securing the bracket-arm so firmly to the horizontal arm of the T branch as to enable itto securely support the hose-reel and its frame and prevent the bracket from getting out of place.
It will be understood that my hose-reel bracket may be manufactured at compara'- tively slight cost, that the same may be very readily attached to the water-pipe in a building, and that the same is oi' attractive appear-ance.
Heretofore, so far as I am aware, hose-reel brackets for use in buildings have been secured to a board, which serves as a base therefor and which requires to be fastened to the wall, which is a matterof some inconvenience and expense. lVIy improved hose-reelbracket may be very readily attached directly to the water-pipe and is efficient to securely support a hose-reel frame and prevent it from becoming disarranged.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details oi' construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In combination with an upright water-pipe having a T branch provided with a horizontal arm having a valve and aconnection for a hose, a bracket-arm havingI a vertical supportingpivot at its upper end and a clamp at its lower end engaging the horizontal arm of the T .branch at a point between theivalve thereof In testimony whereof I have hereunto set and the vertical portion of the T, a horizonmy hand in presence of two subscribing wittally-disposed frame'having a pivot-head at nesses.
its inner end engaged by the pivot-stud of the GEORGE ERXLEBEN. bracket-arm, and a hose-reel mounted at the Witnesses: outer end of the said frame, substantially as JOHN RAU,
described. i a JOHN MGDERMOTT.
