STEAM SUPERHEATER.
APPLICATION FILED SEPT. a. 1904.

Patented May 9, 1905.
PATENT OFFICE.
WILHELM SCHMIDT, OF VVILHELMSHOHE, GERMANY.
STEAM-SUPERHEATER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 789,297, dated May 9, 1905.
Application filed September 6, 1904. Serial No. 223,418.
To all wltmn it nuty concern.-
Be it known that I, WILHELM SCHMIDT, a subject of the King of Prussia, German Emperor, and a resident of Wilhelmshohe, near Casse], in the Province of Hesse-Nassau, German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Steam-superheaters, of which the following is an exact specification.
My invention relates to steam-superheaters provided with two steam-chambers and with tubes closed at the end and having a partition to get two passages for the steam in each tube. The partitions have the purpose to prevent the penetrating of the heat from one passage to the other.
In order to make my invention more clear, I
I refer to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 shows a vertical section through a superheater. Fig. 2 shows an upper view of such a superheater, the cover being taken off.
In the drawings, a is a superheater-casing.
b is the cover.
0 represents tubes closed at one end.
1 is a partition within the tube for dividing the interior of the tube into two spaces 6 6 The partition g is formed by two concentric tubes g 9 closed at both ends and having an interspace between them which may be filled with air, steam, or heat non-conducting material.
The working of the apparatus is as follows: The steam enters the chamber through h, then the spaces 6 c and leaves the tube at Z, entering into the second chamber 9. In pass ing through the spaces 0 and e the steam is heated by the influence of the fire-gases surrounding the tubes 0. The double tube g prevents that the temperature of the most superheated steam in the space 0 is diminished by the temperature of the steam passing the space 6. i
Having thus fully described the nature of my invention, what I desire to secure by Lettors Patent of the United States is A steam-superheater, having two steamehambers, a plurality of tubes closed at one end, and a heat nonconducting partition in form of two central tubes, within each tube, dividing the latter into two spaces, one space being in connection with one chamber, the other space being in connection with the other chamber at the same end of the tube, substantially as described and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILHELM SCHMIDT.
Witnesses I'IENRY HAsrER, WOLDEMAR I-IAUPT.
