TO ALL WHOM ITMAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, JOHN S. nIILLIKAN, of Thorntown, in the county of Boone, and State of Indiana, have invented a new and improved Machine for Moving Houses and other large and heavy bodies and substances; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in providing asafe and efiicient apparatus to place beneath houses and other large and heavy bodies, so that they may be transferred from one point to another, with economy of time, lab or', and power, and with safety to the article moved while in progress,
To enable others skilled in the art to-make use of my invention, I will proceed to describe its construction andoperation.
Figure 1 represents a complete view of the entire machine, four (4) of these being used in all operations of moving, if the article, thing, or substance to be moved is very large, one of these machines being'placed undereach corner, the power being applied to the object to be moved itself, and the machines used only for locomotion andplacing in position when the point of location has been reached. Figure 2 represents the under side ofthe machine, showing the apparatus for coupling and making short turns. A small space is left between the head of these bolts and the axles, greater than the thickness of the couplingbar, so as to allow somelplay to the coupling-bars, and thus enable the machine to make short turns.
