HOIST.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 788,449, dated April 25, 1905.

To all whmn it nut/y concern.-
Be it known that we, EDWIN O. BOUQUET, residing at Los Angeles, and. CLIFFORD F. SWENEY, residing at Pasadena, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California, citi- Zens of the United States, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hoists, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention is more particularly adapted for hoisting transformers into place on the supporting-poles; and the object of our invention is to provide handy and reliable means to accomplish said end. We accomplish this object by means of the device described herein and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1. is a side elevation of our hoist in Fig. 2 is an end view thereof.
I11 the drawings, A represents the supporting-poles, to which the cross-arms B are attached. The supports O of ourhoist are secured together at the top by means of the metallic ring D, passing through the eyebolts E on the supports. These eyebolts are screw-threaded on their outer ends and have nuts F screwed thereon. The guide-chain G is secured to the ring D and passes round under the cross-arm B on the supporting-pole and is hooked onto the chain G by the hook H. The adjustable stay-chains I extend from support to support and are secured thereto by the eyebolts J, the stay-chains being adjustable as to length by means of the links thereon, as shown in Fig. 1. The supports are held in place on the cross-arms by means of the retaining-straps K, projecting downwardly on either side of the ends of the crossarms. The transformers (not shown) are secured to the supporting-chain L, attached to the blocks N, and are elevated by hauling downwardly on the cable M, which passes through the sheaves in the blocks.
Having described ourinvention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The herein-described hoist comprising a pair of supports pivotally connected at their upper ends and being adjustably secured together at their lower ends and having means for the attachment to the upper end of block and tackle and having a guide-chain secured to their upper end, the said chain being adapted to encircle the supporting-pole and having on their lower ends cross-arm engaging straps in combination with block and tackle substantially as herein shown and described.
2. The herein-described hoist comprising a companion pair of supports having eyebolts in their upper ends; a metallic ring in the eyes of said bolts adapted to hold the supports together and forming means to secure thereto block and tackle; a guide-chain secured to said ring and having a hook on the free end thereof, the said supports being secured together at the lower end by adjustable stay-chains and having means to hold said supports on the cross-arms of the supporting-poles in combination with block and tackle.
3. The herein-described hoist for transformers comprising companion supports O carrying on their upper ends the connectingring D; stay-chains I secured to the lower ends of said supports and the guide-chain G secured to said ring and having a hook on the free end thereof in combination with block N and tackle M substantially as herein shown and described.
