Be it known that I, W. E. CAMERON, of Green Island, in the county of Albany, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Folding Stool; and' I"do hereby declare that the following `is a full, clear, and exact description-thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to'make and use the same, reference boing had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specificatiomrn which i d Figure 1 is a side view of my improved stool open, one of the upper arms and part of theseat being broken away to show the construction. i i

My invention has for its object to furnish an improved folding portable stool, so constructed and arranged that it may be folded into a very neat and compact form for storage or transportation and it consists in the construction and combination of the various parts, as' hereinafter more fully described.

' A is the central bed-plate or pivoting-block of the stool. wB are the lower arms of the stool, which, when turned down, form the feet. The ends of the arms B are pivoted to ears'd, formed upon the four sides of the bed-plate or block A, in such a 4tray that they may be turned down, as shown in'g. 1, and turned or' folded up, as shown in fig. 2Q. When turned down or opened to form a seat, the arms B are connected to each other, and at the same time braced by the hook-bars C, `one end of which is pivoted to one of the arms B, andthe other end has a hook formed upon it, which hooks into an eye attached to another of said arms, as shown in iig. 1. When the arms B are folded up to close thestool, the brace-rods Gare secured along the sides of the sid arms B, as shown in fig. 2, so as to bc entirely out of the way. D are the upper arms, the lower endsof which are pivoted to ears a, formed'upon the upper side of the plate or. blockA, above and within the ears al, so that the urlns'D and B, when folded up, may stand parallel with' eachother, as shown in fig. 2. Upon the upper ends of the arms D are formed or to them are attaehed'hooks or knobs E, which pass through holes in the vcorners of the cloth F, which forms the scat of the stool. To the centre of the upper side of plate or block A, is rigidly attached a vertical standard, G, to the upper end of which are pivoted the inner ends of the brace-bars H`, the outer ends of which are so formed as to enter the sockets I, formed in or attached to the arms D, to support t-he said arms against the tendency to be drawn-in ,by pressure upor the seat F. When the stool is folded np, thehraees H hang along the sides of the standard G, as shown in lig. 2. When the stool is folded up for storage or transportation, the seat-cloth F is wrapped aroundthe folded stool, and secured in place by buttons attached V to said cloth near one edge, as shown in lig. 2.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The plate A, constructed as described, and provided with the ears a1 a2 to receive the arms B D,`ivhereby the arms B are adapted to be folded up beside the arms D, when the latter are folded, substantially as described for the' purpose specified.
