To all whom, it pta/y concern:

Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. KRoNn,a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper-Files,of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.

My invention relates to a file for holding loose sheets of paper.

The invention consists in features of novelty hereinafter fully described, and pointed out in the claims.

1 designates the bottom cover-board, and 1 the top cover-board, of my paper-file, both of said boards being provided with a fabric casing 2, that extends continuously throughout the file. The back of the tile is composed of an inner board?) and an outer board 4, the latter of which extends from the top of the file downwardly and transversely to serve as a rear base member 4a. The bottom coverboard l is united to the base member 4L by a iiexible hinge 5, that is composed of the fabric casing 2 at the point of juncture between said base member and bottom cover-board.

6 is a swinging member interposed between the back of the file and the top cover-board 1L and connected to the iile-back by a flexible hinge 7 and to the cover-board by a fiexible hinge 8, both of which are furnished by the flexible cover 2, as seen in Fig. II. In the swinging member 6 is a puncture-proof strip 9, preferably of metal, that is located remote from the lowerside of the swinging member, and beneath said strip are pockets 10.

jecting' forwardly from the legs 12 and carrying upright prongs 14, that receive the papers introduced into the lilo. The straight portions and legs of the prong members form inverted-U-shaped portions of said members, that are interposed between the back members 3 and 4 of the file and are held securely in position by said back members, while the forward extensions 13 serve to advance the prongs 14, which they carry into a position within the file in front of its back sufliciently remote from the back to provide for the application of the sheets of paper thatare placed thereon.

When the file is in closed position, the sheet-receiving prongs enter into the pockets 10 in the top swinging member 6, and the free ends of the prongs by entering the pockets prevent the dislodgment of the sheets of paper from the prongs. The strip E), against which the ends of the prongs bear when the file is closed, serves to prevent puncturing of the top of tlieiile at the location of the prongs. When the file is opened, the top thereof swings on the hinges 7and 8, so that it may be moved into the position seen in Fig. I, and thereby wholly expose the sheet-receiving prongs for the impalement of the sheets of paper to be applied thereto.

Any suitable fastening for securing the lile in closed position may be used.' In Fig. I, I have illustrated a fastening consisting of a hook 15, pivoted to the rear bottom member 4a, and an eye 16, seated in the top swinging -member 6 to receive the engagement of said hook.
