TO ALL PERSONS TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS MAY- COME:

.Be it known that I, HORACE L. DUNCKLEE, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Apparatus for Steaming Meats or other matters; and do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specification, and representedin the accompany ing drawings, of which- .Figure l is a vertical section of the apparatus.

Figure'2 is a front elevation of it. I r v My invention is an improvement with reference'to the steam cooking-apparatus described in Letters Patent, No. 47,675, granted'to J. Zimmerman. p I

' I In the said Zimmermans cookingtapparatus the inner perforated vessel of each section is permanently attached to the vessel or case immediately surrounding it. It has been, found that steam in passing through the space which is between each perforated vessel and its encircling case, will carry with it and deposit within the said space more or less matter, whereby such space isapt-to become foul, and when the two vessels are connested either at their top parts, or at the same and their bottoms, it has become very diflicult, if not impossible, .to remove the foul deposits from between them.

The purpose of my improvement is to enable both such vessels, as well as any one of the series employed, to be easily cleansed-on either its outer or inner surface or surfaces, ascireumstanees may require.

For this purpose, I do not connect together either of the vessels and its case, situated over the boiler or water-holding vessel, but. have them separate from each other, and so provided or made with annular shoulders, or their equivalents, as to .enablethe perforated vessel to be supported by and within its case, and to be readily lifted out thereof. h

In the drawings, A denotesthe boiler or water-holding vessel. B is the first case,-which fits into the mouth of the said vessel as a kettle-cover generally enters and fits to a kettle. -Near its upper end, and a short dis tance below the same, as represented, 'the case B is formed, with an annular projection -or shoulder, a, to extend from and aroundits inner surface, the case B being cylindrical, and open at both ends. The perforated vessel C, to be placed inthe caseB, I make of the form of a conic frustum, and with an-annular shoulder or flange, b,'projecting from'its upper edge, and so as to rest on the shoulder orfiange a when the vessel 0 is-within the case B. The case B enters the mouth of the boiler, and is provided with alip or flange, h, to rest on the upper edge of suchmouthf The mouth of the case B is' to be of the same diameter as that of the boiler, in order to receive and support another case, E to be arranged in it, and above its vessel C, in manner as shown in the drawings. The second vessel, D, and its case, E, and in fa-tany other of the series, I make in all respects-like the vessel 0 audits case B, except it may be in point of length, each vessel being perforated with holes through its bottom and sides,'to allow steam to" pass freelyinto and out. of the vessel. The whole apparatus so made'has all the advantages, and: is to be employed ,for the same purpose orpnrposes as that of Zimmerman, and in additi'on'it has what Zimmermans apparatus has not, viz, a facility of being readily cleansed of matters deposited by the steam onthe outer surface of either perforated vessel or on .the'inner surface of its case. I do not claim as my invention the steam cooking-apparatus of the said Zimmerman; biit What I do claim is as follows:

In a culinary apparatus, made in sections, as described, I claim the combination, in each sect-ion, of the steaming-vesselwith its surrounding case, under the arrangement specified, so that the said vcssclshall be hung or suspended within its case by means of flanges or bearings, a 6, formed upon both the vessel and case, in the manner set forth.-
