Similar letters of reference'indicate corresponding parts. l This invention relates to a new mannerof securing thetype to a roller and handle for the purpose of prof ducing an ornamenting or gilding bookbinders roll. Heretoi'ore bookbinders rolls were generally composed either of a seriesof types set and clamped between two disks that were attached to a handle, or they were made so that they were securely connected to their handle. Both these kinds are inconvenient, and my invention has for its object a bookbindersroll in which the type can be easily removed and replaced whenever desired,

My invention consists in the use of an annular type-plate, the outer edge of which is formed with'the required impression. This ring is screwed or otherwise fastened'to' the face of a disk which rolls onv a pin. proseries of such plates ,can vbe .used in connection with one single handle; even plates *having jecting from a. suitable ha'ndle. By removing the two screws or other devices which fasten the ring, `the same can be at once removed, and another, with a different impression on the edge, put in its place.

A, in the drawing, represents ahandle, of suitable' material -and shape, carrying .at one end a suitable projecting pin, B, upon which a metal or other disk, C, of suitable diameter rolls; or the pin B may be fastened to the disk,'and tuin in the handle, as maybe desired. D represents the annular ltype-plate, having the required ornamental or other impression on its edge. It is, by means of screws or pins a a, fastened to the face of the disk C, as is clearly shown in iig. 2. The type-plate can 'be'easily removed .and replaced, and thus a various diameters caube secured to the disk C.

Having thus described-my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A Abooltbin'ders roll, consistingof the handle A, which jcarries the revolving disk C, and ofthe annular or circular type-plate D, secured tothe face of the disk, al1 made and operating substantially as herein shown and described.
