Be it known that I, J. W. BAILEY, of New'Orleans, in the parish of Orleans, and State of Louisiana, have invented a. new and useful Improvement in 'Fire-Cracker Pistol; and I do hereby declare that the following isA a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will'e'nable others skilled in the art to make and usethe same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification. v

This invention relates to n new and improvedl device for applying the present popular breech-loading Apr'inciple to the explosion of fire-crackers, whereby the Aaccidents which not unfrequently happenfrom such-explosion are avoided; and the invention consists in mounting a. barrel or tube on a stock, and atthch'ing thereto a piece, which acts as a. removable breech to the borrel, and also as a trigger, and in providing an aperture, through the barrel at the breech, for the fuse of the fire-cracker, as will hereinafter be described.

A is the stock, is the-barrel, end C is the breech-piece. This piece C passes through a. mortise, E, in the stock, with its lower end in the form of anordinary,pistol-trigger, and-'with a. flat disk. of the diameterof the barrel forming its upper end. y Thus formed, the piece C is supported in the mortise E of the/stock by n pin,f, as seen in the drawing. In this position it acts the part of a lever, with the pinj as a, fulcru-m. Pulling upon the trigger presses the disk g against the open end of tbeharrel. In the barrel, at the point marked h, there is a. notch, through which the fuse of the fire-cracker is drawn when it is placed in the barrel, as seengin the drawing.' The position of the piece G, when it is drawn back for inserting thefire-cracke'r, is seen in red lines.

What I claim as new, eind desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The stock the har-rel B, the piece C, and the pinf, constructed, arranged, und combined substantially as described for the purposes set forth.
