To all whont it may concern:

Be it known that I, PER A. RINGNELL, a citizen oi the United States, residing at Salem, in the county of Oolumbiana and State of'Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Olothes-Driers; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and

exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation. Fig. 2'is a transverse section of one of the guide-bars and one of the clothes-drier bars, showing the guide-loop properly attached. Fig. 3 is a top view of the upper bracket, showing one of the clothes-drier bars extended. Fig. 4 is a sectional view showing a portion of the back board and illustrating in section the upper bracket, showing one of the guide-bars and illustrating one of the drier-bars extended. Fig. 5 is a view showing a portion of' the lower bracket.

The present invention has relation to clothesdriers; and it consists in the novel arrangement hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claims. 7

the back board, which is formed of a length to correspond with the length of the drier, reference being had to properly attaching the back board to the'wall of a room or other object.

To the back board 1 are. securely attached the brackets 2 and 3, the bracket 2 being the upper one and the bracket 3 the lower one, which brackets are spacedfrom each other a distance equal to the length of the guide-bars 4, which guide-bars are held at their upper ends by means of sockets 5, formed in the bottom or under side of the bracket 2 and their bottom or lower ends held by the sockets 6, formed in the lower. bracket 3. The upper bracket 2 is provided with the flange 7, which flange is located in a plane below the top of the main portion of the bracket and is provided with a number of openings 8 which openings are for the purpose of allowing the bars 4.

In the accompanying drawings, 1 represents drier-arms 9 to be moved up and down through said openings. For the purpose of guiding the drier-bars as they are moved up and down the lower ends of said drier-arms are provided with the spring guide-loops l0.

The term bottom, used to locate the guideloops 10, is of course applied to the drier-bars 9 when in the position illustrated in Fig. 1.

For the purpose of preventing any lateral or radial movement of the drier-arms 9 when they are brought into ahorizontal position, or substantially so, the division-webs 11 are provided and are so located that when the drierbars are brought into a horizontal position they will be located between two of the division-Webs, and, of course, as they are moved up and down While in a vertical position they will pass between the division-webs 11.

The spring-loops 10 are provided with the intnrned portions 12, which inturned portions are seated in apertures 13, by which arrange-T ment the guide loops 10 are properly connected to the drier-bars9, and of course are located so as to properly inclose the guide- It will be understood that by forming the loops 10 of spring material the inturned portions 12 are free to spring away from each other in case the guide-loops 10 should bind upon the guide-bars at any point and at the same time the guide-loops 10 can be easily attached and detached to. and from the drierbars 9.

When the drier proper is not in use, the drier-bars are brought into a vertical position, their bottom or lower ends resting upon the top of the lower bracket 3, and for the purpose of insuring the lower ends to come in proper position the flange 14 is provided, the

inner side of which is beveled, so that there will be a tendency to move the bottom or lower ends of the drier-arms inward as they pass the flange 14. V

The brackets 2 and 3 are each provided with the connecting-flanges l5 and 1-6, which conmeeting-flanges are so formed that the brackets can be easily attached to the back board 1 by means of suitable screws or their equivalents.

The guide-loops 10 will hold the drier-bars 9 when they are brought into a horizontal position, or substantially so, against any outward movement, thereby preventing the'inner ends of said drier-bars from moving outward and from under the bottom of the bracket 2, thereby preventing any accidental displacement of the drier-bars.

When it is desired to place the drier-bars from a horizontal position toa vertical one, as illustrated in Fig. 1, all that is necessary to do is to lift said drier-bars upward, so that they will assume a vertical position, at which time they are free to fall by gravity and be guided along the guide-bars until their bottom or lower ends come in contact with the top of the lower bracket 3.

Having fully described my invention, what Iclaim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. In a clothes-drier the combination of a back board having brackets secured to and held in spaced relation to each other, said brackets provided with sockets, guide-bars having theirxupper and lower ends seated in said sockets, drier-bars having detachably connected thereto guide-loops and the guideloops located around the guide-bars and the upper bracket provided with partition-webs, the webs and said bracket provided with a flange located in a plane below the top of the bracket, substantially as and ,for the purpose specified.

2. In a clothes-drier the combination of brackets held in spaced relation, the lowermost bracket provided with a flange having a beveled edge, guide bars connected to the brackets, drier-arms having connected thereto guide-loops, said guide-loops located around the guide-bars and the upper bracket provided with openings, and a flange located in aplane below the top of the bracket, and partitionwebs formed upon the upper side of the bracket, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
