PATENT OFFICE.
HORSE-COLLAR OR THE LIKE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters PatentNo. 747,375, dated December 22, 1903.
Application filed June 12,1903. smart. 161,219- {No model.) a
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JUAN ELIAS CHILO'IE- GUY, physician, a citizen of Argentina, and a resident of No. 745 Oalle Tucu man, in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, have invented new and useful Improvements in Horse-(Jollars or the Like, of which the following is a specification. Y
This invention relates to improvements in pneumatic collars for horses and other draftanimals, and relates more particularly to means whereby the pneumatic pad is conveniently secured in position on the rigid plate or cover.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of a collar embodying this invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the pneumatic pad. Fig. 3 is a similar view showing a modified form of pneumatic pad. Fig. 4: is a sectional-view on the line ABofFig.1. H
As shown in the drawings, the outer part or front plate a of the collar consists of a metallic cover of suitable shape having one side rolled up to form a rim a",while the other side is provided with a flange e,bent inwardly. A similar flange is provided along the opposite edge at g, as shown in Fig. 4. The buckles, rein-holders, hooks, and the like are fastened to the outer plate in any suitable manner. This outer cover is provided with a back b, which is preferably formed of rubber and is provided with grooves for engagement with the flanges e and g, which serve to' hold the back in position. In the space formed between the metallic front plate a. and the back I) is placed a pneumatic rubber pad d, which may be formed in a single piece, as shown in Fig. 3, or in two pieces, as shown in Fig. 2. This pad is provided with inflating-nozzles c, or when two pads are used a corresponding number of nozzles are provided.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
1. In a pneumatic horse-collar, the combination of a metallic front plate provided with inwardly-projecting flanges,a back cover provided with grooves for engagement with said fianges, and a pneumatic pad inserted in the space between front plate and back cover, substantially as described.
2. In a pneumatic horse-collar, the combination with a front plate provided with a rim a, and inwardly-projecting flanges, of a plurality of pneumatic pads, and a cover for said pads having grooves adapted to engage with said flanges, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
' JUAN ELIAS CHILOTEGUY.
