' PATENT OFFICE.
PAUL RAYSIK, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
FOLDING FLORAL- DESIGN FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 745,295, dated November 24., 1903.
Application filed September 3, 1903. Serial 'No. 171,729. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL RAYSIK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Folding Floral-Design Frames, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to produce a cheap, convenient, and practical device for the use of florists in the arrangement and display of flowers and which can be folded into small space for shipment or for packing when not in use. 7
The invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts set forth in the following specification, and particularly pointed out in the claims thereof.
Referring to the drawings, Figure l is a side elevation of my improved folding floral-design frame, showing the same open and in position for use. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same folded. Fig. 3 is a detail rear elevation of the floral-design frame and the U- shaped rear standard viewed in the direction of the arrow 1), Fig. 1. Fig. dis a detail front elevation of the floral-design frame and the U-shaped front standard viewed in the direction of the arrow 0, Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a section taken on line 6 6, Fig. 1.
Like numerals refer to like parts throughout the several views of the drawings.
In the drawings, 10 is a floral-design frame of any desirable outline, formed of wire and suitably constructed to receive and hold flowers and ferns.
The floral frame 10 is fast to a supportingframe 11, comprising a U-shaped front standard 12, a U-shaped rear standard 13, a V- shaped base-brace 14, and diagonal braces 15 15. The .U-shaped front standard 12 consists of two Vertical sides 16 16, joined together bya horizontal base 17, the same being preferably bent from a single piece of wire. The U-shaped rear standard is preferably formed of a single piece of wire having two vertical sides 18 18 joined together by a base 19. The upper ends of sides 16 16 encircle the front base-wire 20 of the designframe 10, and the standard 12 is rigidly fixed to said frame 10 by diagonal braces 15 15, which are fast at one end thereof to the base 17 and at the other end thereof to the rear base-wire 21 of the frame 10. The upper ends of the sides 18 18 loosely encircle the rear base-wire 21, so that the U -shaped rear standard 13 is. pivoted to said base-wire 21. The rear standard 13 is strengthened by diagonal braces 22 22 and is locked in a substantially vertical position by the V-shaped base-brace 14, the apex of said brace pivoted to the base 17 and the free ends thereof terminating in eyes 23 23, which encircle and are free to slide upon the sides 18 18 of the rear stand ard 13. v
In using m yim proved folding frame flowers and ferns are placed upon the floral-design frame 10 and, if desirable, are also entwined about the supporting-frame 11 to form a bank of flowers or ferns for the floral design.
When not in use, asin packing for shipment or storage, the V base-brace 14. is tipped upon the base-piece 17 as a pivot, while the eyes 23 23 slide upwardly upon the sides 18 18 from the positions shown in Fig. 1 to that shown in Fig. 2.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire by Letters Patent to secure, is-
1. A floral-design frame, in combination with a supporting-frame, said supportingframe comprising a front standard and a rear standard, one of said standards rigidly fastened, and the other of said standards pivotally attached to said floral-design frame.
1 2. A floral design frame in combination with a supporting-frame constructed of wire, said supporting-frame comprisinga U-shaped front standard rigidly fastened to said floraldesign frame, and a U-shaped rear standard pivotally attached to said floral-design frame.
3. A floral-design frame in combination with a supporting-frame constructed of wire, said supporting-frame comprisinga U-shaped front standard rigidly fastened to said floraldesign frame, and a U-shaped rear standard pivotally attached to said floral-design frame, and a V-shaped base-brace, said base-brace pivoted at its apex to the base of said front standard, and having its free ends terminating in eyes constructed to engage, and slide upon, sides of said rear standard.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
PAUL RAYSIK.
