PATENT OFFICE.
STAND oR SUPPORT FOR ALBUMS,-
SPECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent'No. 741,555, dated october 1e, 1903.
Application filed February 12, 1903. Serial No. 143,100. (ITovniodeli)VV I To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GUs'rAvE ScHWAB,a citizen of theUnited States, residing in Manhattan borough, New York city, county and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Stands or Supports for Albums and other Articles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a stand for albums and other obj ects, possessing certain novel features of construction set forth in the following specification and claims and illustrated in the annexed drawings, in which- ,f
Figure lis a side elevation of a stand or support embodying this invention.l Fig. 2 is a section along .fr fr, Fig. l. 1
The stand or easel a may be made of suitable material and configuration--as,A for exi door is closed, it coacts with or lies in the plane of the frame or stand to support an album.
The frame a has suitably connected thereto near its lower end, at the front thereof, a ledge e, to which the front cover of the album is hinged. The ledge e when the album is in position as shown in Fig. l is adapted to support the album, the latter then resting against the frame, which also forms a support therefor. When in this position, the door or doors c are closed, and the door or doors c then also form a support for the album. When the album is moved away from the frame, the
rors, which show when the album is moved out of the way from in front of the box, or
the doors could be decorated orcovered in any suitable way or left plain, if desired. The interior ofthe box, if desired, could also be covered or lined and the entire stand likewise decorated or arrangedas called for.
When the doors are closed and the album on the stand resting against the doors, the contents of the box are of course secure against access or loss. The box can be usedfor any desired purpose-as, for example, to contain or display pictures, photographs, or the like, or figures, musical movements, or other objects could be mounted in the box either removably or permanently, as found desirable.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. Asupport for photographic albums, consisting of a yoke-shaped frame,"v a receptacle connected to the said frame and provided with a forward open end, a pair of forwardlyopening doors arranged between the said frame, hinged thereto, and adapted to close the open end of said receptacle, a ledge secured to the front of said frame,'and a hinge secured to the ledge and adapted to attach an album thereto, said ledge adapted to support the album.
2. A support for photographic albums comprising ayoke-shaped frame, means connected to the said frame for supporting it, a receptaclesecured to the said supporting means and provided with a forward open end, a pair of forwardly-opening doors arranged within said frame, hinged thereto and adapted to close the open end of said receptacle, a ledge secured to the said frame, and a hinge connected to the said ledge and adapted to attach an album thereto, said ledge also adapted to support the album.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. A
eU'sTAvE SCHWAB.
