Be'it known that I. JULES LEGOC'Q, of New York, in the county of New York, and State of New York, have invented anew and useful Improvement in Trusses, Abdominal Supporters, $50.; and I'do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the sonic, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forrning part of this specification.

My inventionhes for its object to furnish a simple, light, and effective truss, 350., which may be worn without annoyance or fatigue, and which will not chafe the bodyof the wearer; and it consists in forming trusses, abdominal supporters, &c., of light wire, bent into the proper, shape, according to the purpose for which it is worn, and covered with rubber tubing; in the combination .therewith of removable adjustable pads, of a bag for supporting the testicles, and of a removable part for supporting the lower part of the body; the whole being constructed and arranged as hereinafter more fully described.

[lhc'body of the truss, abdominal supporter, 830., is formed of small wire, A,-bent into the necessary form, according to thecharacter of the rupture or the purpose for. which the truss, $30., is worn. The ends of the wire A may be secured to each other by having a hook formed upon one end, hooking into eyes formed upon the other end, as shown in fig. 2, or. by having a screw-thread formed upon one end, which passes through an eye formed upon the other end, and is secured in place by a thumb-nut screwing upon the said screw-thread, as shown in fig. 1, or in any other convenient manner. The opening in the truss or supporter may be at the back, front, side, or wherever may be most convenient. The wire A is covered with a rubber tube, B, fitting loosely upon it, so that it mayact as a friction-roller, under the movements of the muscles, to prevent the body of the wearer from being ehafed or injured by the truss. G are adjustable and removable pads, having forked ears formed upon their outer sides, as shown in fig. 3, and which are adjustably attached to the truss by having the said forked ears forced upon it, as shown in the drawings, the elasticity of the rubber tube B enabling the pads to conform to the movements of the body without becoming displaced. If it is desired, for any reason, that the pad should be more rigidly secured to the-truss or supporter, the wire A, at the point where the pad is; to be placed, may be flattened, so as to restrict the movement of the said pad. D is along, rcmovably attached to the part of the supporter that extends below the body, soas to support the testicles. In case of females, the bag D may be replaced with a pad, E is a wire, covered with a rubber tube, and having hooks formed upon its rear and front ends, by means of which itmay be attached to the front and rear parts of the supporter, so as to pass between thelegs of the wearer and support the lower part of the body when required.

I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent Formingtrusses, abdominal supporters, &c., of wire, A, bent into the form required, and covered with rubber tubing, B, substantially'as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
