SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 734,054, dated J' uly 21, 1903.
. Application sled January 9,1903. serial No. 138.414. (No model y To all whom t may con/cern.-
Be it known that l, ALICE A. FROST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hiram, in the county of Portage and State of Ollio, have'invented aY new and useful Donlestic Boiler, ofwhich thefollowingisaspeciflcation.
This invention relates to a domestic boiler which may be used in connection with heating lneans of any character, but is especially designed for use on gas or oil stoves, Where the limited amount of heating-surface renders it inconvenient to accommodate lnore than one utensil at a time, its object being to provide a boiler having a plurality of independent renlovable vessels, by lneans of which several dierent kinds of foodmay be",
cooked at one time.
A further object of the invention is to so construct the boiler and food-'containing vessels as to permit the removal of one or more of the vessels without interfering' with the operation of the remaining vessel or vessels.
A further object is to produce'a simple in'- expensive device of the character described provided with means for draining the' water of condensation back into the boiler.
With these and other objects in View my invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed ollt in the claims hereto appended.
Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the boiler, the lid being removed to show the arrangement of the independent cooking vessels. gitudinal sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective showing the vesselsupporting plate removed from the boiler.
Similar numerals of reference indicate cor-` responding parts in all the figures of the drawings.
' 1 designates a boiler or jacket formed of sheet metal or other suitable material, preferably cylindrical in shape and provided on its opposite sides with handles 2. Within the boiler 1 and located at a point adjacent its rim is an inwardlyextending annular llange 3, adapted to support a removable circular plate 4, which fits snugly within the boiler and rests on the flange. The circular plate 4 is provided with openings 5 for the f reception of cooking vessels 6, which may be of anydesired shape, having an annular rib 7 near the rim'thereof adapted to rest on the plate 4 and support the vessels within the boiler at points solne little'distance above the bottom thereof. The vessels 6 are provided with lids 8 and have balls 9, by meails of which they can be removed from the boiler. The lids 8 are made with outwardly-extending annular flanges 10, adapted to rest on the plate 4 when the vessels are removed and close the openings 5, thereby permitting the boilertdbe used in the ordinary manner for heating water, &c.
Secured to the ullder side of the plate 4 in any suitable manner are a number of substantiallyradial partitions 1l, which rest on the bottom of the boiler and form a support for the plate 4, preventing it from sagging under the weight of the filled vessels. The partitions 11 divide the boiler in to three compartments, which intercommunicate by means of perforations 12 in said partitions, allowing a free circulation of steam and Water through the several compartments. lThe ends 13 of the partitions 11 `terminate at a point a short distance from the inner wall of the boiler 1, thereby permitting the water and steam to circulate around -the partitions as well as through them.
A cover 14, having a handle 15, lits over the boiler and rests on theedge thereof.
The plate 4 is provided with vent-openings 16, having hinged or pivoted covers 17,which permit the steam to pass from the bottom of the boiler and circulate freely around the tops of the vessel, and also serves to drain the water of condensation back into the boiler. The openings 16 also permit the renewal of water in the boiler Vwithout necessitating the removal of the cooking vessels. I provide the plate 4 With a handle 18, by means of which the plate may be lifted out of the boiler when desired.
Various changes in form, proportion, and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is- 1. The combination with a boiler, of a sup- ICO an annular supporting-flange secured to the inner Wall of said boiler, a plate carrying a plurality of removable vessels each provided with an annular rib adapted to rest on said plate, a depending perforated partition secured to the plate, there being a series of vent-openingsin the plate, whereby the steam from the boiler may pass into the chamber formed between the plate and the cover and the water of condensation returned to the boiler, and adjustable covers for said vents.
3. The combination of a boiler having an inwardly-projecting ange, of a supportingplate resting on the ange, said plate carrying a plurality of vessels, a depending perforated partition secured to the plate and resting on the bottom of the boiler, said flange and partition serving to support the plate in the boiler.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
