DlPPER-HOLDER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 725,655, dated April 21, 1903. Application filed November 28, 1902. Serial No. 183,080. (No model.)

Be it known that I, HARRY L. BEAMAN,a citizen of the United States, residing at Wiuchendon, in the county of Worcester and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Dipper-Holders, of which the following is a specification, accompanied by a drawing forming a part of the same and representing a perspective view of my improved dipper-holder.

The object of my invention is to provide a holder for dippers and similar articles by which the utensil may be held by the rim, thereby leaving the handlefree, and when supported by the holder be securely held from accidental displacement; and it consists in providingahook portion upon which the utensil is held and a retaining lip or member adapted to engage the rim of the utensil; and it further consists in the method of construction by which the holder can be cheaply made and readily attached to a wall or casing, said holder being made from a single piece of wire.

Referring to the accompanying drawing, A denotes the surface of the wall or casing to which my improved dipper-holder is attached. The holder itself is formed from a single piece of wire, having the central portion of the wire straight, as at B, preferably covered with a piece of rubber tubing B and bent at each end of the straight section B, as at B, substantially at right angles, forming the hooked sections 0 C. The wire is then bent at C at an acute angle, having straight upright sections D D, adapted to bear against a vertical supporting wall or casing, and with the sections 0 0 form two hooks connected together by the straight section B. The upper ends of the straight sections D D are then curved forward at E E and downward at F F at an oblique angle to the sections D D. At the lower ends of the oblique sections F F the wire is bent abruptly upward at F F in front of and a-little to one side of each of the sections D D, forming the short curved sections G G, with spaces H H inclosed between the straight sections D and the upwardly-bent sections G G. The wire is then bent horizontally at G in a line at right angles with the straight sections D, the ends of the wire forming the two attaching prongs I I, extending past the straight sections Dfar enough to be driven into holes prepared in the side wall or casing and support the holder. The dipper (represented in outline at J) is supported in the hold or by being hooked over the hooked sections 0 O of the holder and slightly rocked thereon until the outer rim K is brought into the angular spaces H H, included between the straight sections D D and the curved sections G G, said curved sections G G forming lips which engage the rim of the dipper and prevent it from being lifted off the hook until the handle L is carried away from the side wall and the dipper slightly rocked upon the hooked sections of the holder. I I do not wish to confine myself to the precise or exact conformation of the bent wire as described, as the same may be changed somewhat without departing from the spirit of my invention, which consists, broadly, in combining with the hooked portion of the holder a lip or lips adapted to en gage the edge of the utensil in order to prevent its accidental displacement. I 7 By means of my improved device the dipper or other utensil when held in the hand by the handle L can be hooked upon the hooked sections 0 O and its rim carried beneath the curved lips G G without changing the position of the utensil in the hand, and the utensil may also be withdrawn from the holder when taken by the handle in the position for use.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. As an article of manufacture, a dipperholder made from a single piece of wire and having means for its attachment to a wall and having a hook adapted to support a dipper thereon, and a projecting lip adapted to overlap the edge of the dipper, substantially as described.

2. The within -described dipper-holder, formed from a single piece of wire,ben t to form a hooked section, and a lip-section overhanging said hooked section, withthe ends of the wire forming straight prongs adapted to be inserted in a wall or casing, substantially as described.

3. The within-described device for holding dippers, and consisting of a single piece of Wire having a straight section B, and bent at D, D, forming prongs by which the device is B and C to form hooks having the upright supported, substantially asdescribed. straight sections D,D, and bent at E, F, and Dated this 25th day of November, 1902.
