STEAM-BOILER.

SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 722,415, dated March 10, 1903. Application filed August 26, 1902. Serial No. 121,086. (No model.)

My invention is illustrated by the accompanying drawing, in which the figure shows alongitudinal section of one form of construction of my boiler system.

As here shown, my new system of steamboilers consists of the combination of a vertical boiler a and three horizontal boilers b, c, and d, the uppermost one, d, forming the steam-receiver, being an ordinary cylindrical boiler. The boilers b and c are small waterspace fiue boilers traversed by groups of tubes e, by means of which the multiple circulation of the water in the boiler system is attained. In the accompanying drawing the various paths taken by the water in circulating are indicated by arrows, and in order to v render these paths clearer each is designated by a diiferent numeral.

The furnace is located in the vertical boiler a, and as theflame is fully developed before reaching the walls of the boiler there is no smoke generated.

What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is--- A system of steam-boilers comprising a front vertical boiler containing a furnace, and a series of horizontal boilers all of which except the uppermost having boiler-tubes and all communicating with each other near the front end and near the back end thereof and each of said horizontal boilers communicating directly with the vertical boiler so that for the purpose of generating dry steam the steam developed in the boilers is caused to travel a long'way over heating-surfaces.
