TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that l', GEORGE WELLS, of the township of Bethel, in the county of Fairfield, and State of Connecticut, have invented'certnin novel and useful Improvements inDoor-Stops or Holders; and I hereby declare the following to be a. full, clear, and exact description of theV seme, reference being had to the accom-v pnnying drawings, which are lettered to correspond with ond ferm o. part of the specification.

In order that the public muy fully understand the nature of my invention, and those skilled in mechanics be enabled to construct and use the same, I will describe it as follows, to wit:

Figure 1 is u perspective drawing of my improved door-stop, having` the hood or cap removed to show the segmental cogged cociiing foot-lever A, which operates the eccentric or cam B that causes the looped 'bolt or fell C to move up or down when operated by the foot or otherwise. D is nu India-rubber or other exible pd to prevent the ooit C from wearing out the carpet. This pad constitutes the foot ofthe fall or bolt C, und when used upon the bare oor it prevents bruising the same, end adheres more tenaciously to the wood,'cousequently holds the door nt :my `fixed angle onrequired position. y

The nature of my invention consists in the looped or other bolt C, provided with a flexible pad, D, at the lower end thereof, and operated by means of un eccentric or com and segmental cogged gear A, for the purpose of holding al door at any required opening or angle. 4The cop and bed-plate S may be cast in one piece, orif seperate, a-s shown in the drawings, may be secured .together by any suitable device in lieu of screw-pins.

Therefore, what I claim as new and useful, and what I wish tosecure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-

1. The bolt or fell C andpad D, operated in the manner and for the purpose set forth. v 2. I claim the foot-lever A in combination with the eccentric or com B, or an equivalentthereof, to operate the bolt or holder C, for the purpose substantially as described and shown in the drawings.
