Be it known that we, DAVID M. BURNS and ALEXANDER B. BURNS, citizens ofthe United States, and residentsof Greenbay, in the.` county of Brown anfd State of Wisconsin, havev invented certain .new and,y useful Improvements in Boilers or Water-Heaters; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descriptionthereof.

Our invention has for its object to provide simple, economical, and durable boilers and water-heaters that can be readilyfcleaned, said invention consisting in certain peculiarities of construction and combination of partsparticularly set forth with reference lto the accompanying drawings and subsequently claimed.

Figure 1 of the drawings represents a vertical section View of a boiler or water-heater in accordance with our invention,'this y view beingindicated by line 1v1 in thethird ligure Fig. 2, a partly-sectional elevation of the apparatus indicated by lines 2 2 in said third figure, and Fig. 3 a horizontal section'view indieated by lines 3 3 in the first-ligure.

With the exception of the doors, frames,

`nipples, manhole-closure, and fire-chamber grate the heater isjpreferably of boiler-plate :in water-tight union. The doors B' C are practically sides of boxes B C opposite -tert minals of the fines aforesaid and being swung open said boxes and flues may be readily cleaned. Access to pipes K is also possible through box B when the door of same is open.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

A'boiler or water-heater comprising a cylindrical shell, boxes'extendingl intofthe shell and provided with outerdoors, ilues in tiers connecting the boxes,a bafflelplate'dt viding one of the boxes into approximately equal upper and lower compartments, asimilar plate in the other` boxat a greater elevation than the plate aforesaid,"the minor upper compartment of the latter box being open `roo ssA f at one end for communication with a smokestack, a fire-chamber 0f less diameter than said shell built therein central of same, and pipes, leading from the fire-chamber into the lower compartment of the box aforesaid.

2. A boiler or Water-heater comprising a cylindrical shell, boxes extending into the shell and provided with outer doors, fines in tiers connecting the boxes, a baflie-plate dividing one of the boxes into approximately equal upper and lower compartments, a similar plate in the other box at a greater elevation than the plate aforesaid, the minor upper Compartment of the latter box being open at one end for communication with a smoke-
