Description

@einen tai geteld @Hite WILLIAM I-I. SQUIRES, OFfNEW YORK, N. Y
Letters Patent No. 69,268, dated September 2-1, 1867.
IMPROVEMENT IN STEAM-GENERATOR BLOWERS.
ltlge Srlgehule tiene tu in Hirsi iettcrs 'ateizt fmt marking part nt tige snuit.
TO ALL WHOM I'I MAY CONCERN:
Be itknown that I, VILLIAM I-I. SQUIRES, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and improved Mode of Creating Draught in Steam-Boiler Furnaces, and that the following description, taken in connection with the accompaiiying drawing, hereinafter referred to, forms a full and exact specification of the same, wherein I have set forth the nature and principles of my said improvements, by which my invcntion may be distinguished from all othersof a similar Class, together with sii-ch parts as I claim, and desire to have secured to me by Letters Patent. I I
Thisjnventien, consists in the combination with the lower part of the smoke-stack or chamber with which thelower part of the smoke-stack communicates, of a conical chamber, into'the lower part of which a steam-tube communicating with lthe boiler is inserted. The steam-tube is provided with a stop-cock, whereby steam may I be allowed topass from the boiler into the lowcrpart of the smoke-stack, und create the necessary draught.
The accompanying drawing represents a side sectional view of my invention applied to a stcamboiler.
A represents a steam-boiler, B the furnace thereof, and C the lower part of the smoke-stack, or chamber with which the smoke-stack communicates. D is a steam pipe, which extends from the boiler, and passes into a conical chamber, E, in the lower part of the smoke-stack. This steam pipe is provided with a stop-cock, G, by which the admission of steam into E may be graduated as desired.
From the above description-'it will be seen that a greater or less draught may be produced in the smokestack, as required.v i A Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The arrangement of the boiler A, furnace B, chamber C, steam pipe D, stop-cock G, and conical chamber E, as herein set forth for the purpose specified.
WILLIAM II. SQUIRES.
