BRUSH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 663,246, dated December 4, 1900.
. Application filed April 23 1900- To al?, whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERBERT M. STURGIS, of Kansas City, Jackson county, State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brushes, of which the following is a full, clear, and .exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
This invention relates to brushes; and it consist-s of the novel construction, combination, and arrangement of parts hereinafter shown, described, and claimed.
Figure l is a plan view. Fig. 2 is a sectional view taken approximately on the line a a of Figa 1. Fig. 3 is View showing the spraying-tube.
In carrying out this invention I provide an annular brush-block l, integral with one side of which or rigidly secured to it is a handle 2.
3 denotes a T-casting, integral with which is a flange 4, the said Iiange being adapted to t upon the upper surface of the brush-block, in which position it is secured by means of screws 5, thereby holding the said T-casting rigidly in position. Projecting into the vertical portion of the T-casting 3 is a tubular connection 6, the said tubular connection being provided near its upper extremity with an aperture 7, the said aperture registering with the horizontal portion of the tubular casting 3. The upper extremity of the tubular member 6 is interiorly screw-threaded and is retained in position by means of a thumbscrew 8, provided for that purpose. Rigidly Serial No. 14,002. (No model.)
connected to the lower portion of the casting 6 is a spraying-tube 9, the said spraying-tube being annular in shape and being adapted to encircle the entire number of brush-splints, the opposite ends of said spraying-tube leading from diametrically opposite sides of the casting 6. Through the inner side of the said spraying-tube is a plurality of apertures 10,
-a brush-block, a handle integral with said brush-block, a tubular casting rigidly carried by said brush-block, a second casting removably carried by the first-mentioned casting, and a spraying-tube carried by the said second-mentioned casting, the said sprayingtube encircling the entire number of brushsplints, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I aix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
