Be it known that I, GEORGE FEIeriTNE1t,-of Wooster, in the county of Wayne, and State. of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Fifth-Wheel Axle-Clip Savage-Block Dies, and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had te thevaeeomf panyingdrawings,and the letters of reference marked thereon, as forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective, and v Figure 2 a section'.v A represents a hox or block of wood of suitable dimensions, upon which is secured the iron die-box B, the

construction of which, `and the modj of fastening, is fully shown in tig. 1. Said box is provided with holes through its bottom', :ts seen in iig. 2, nd indicated by letters cl d. C is a. slidingdie, which is operated by means o f foot-pedal l) and levers cfg h and shaft E, all connected, and worked as shown iu fig. 1. represents a spring for the purpose of throwing the die C hack when pedal D is relieved of its weight. G represents a stationary die, and. should be firmly secured in its place. -It should here 'be observedl that the movable die C and stationary die G are provided upon` their upper surfaces With a concave groove, and movable die F with a squuregroove, as fullyshorvn in iig', `1.A The contiguous ends of grooves in' C and G should also be rounding, in order to give a curve and imparting additional strength to the clips. I 4 v The opera-tion of vInymachine is as follows: Take apiece of iron about 'six 'inches in length and of the proper thickness, split up the end a suioient distance` to Aform the hase of the clip, turn out one end on each side and work the seme to proper size to form the clip, then under a whiteheat place the iron thus'formed into the block, force the die-blocks close together, holding them tightly until completed with the hammer, forming the clips and ends thereto, ready for attaching the swage-iron to complete theV Wheel. I
