FINGER-RING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 635,510, dated October 24, 1899.
Application filed September 24, 1898. Serial No- 69L7'76. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GAIGE M. SAUNDERS, a citizen of the United States of America, and aresident of the city of Vaterloo, Black Hawk county, State of Iowa, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Finger- Rings, of which the following is a specification,
My invention relates to finger-rings; and
the object of my improvements is to construct an ornamental ring from one piece of metal without soldering. I attain this object by the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a perspective view of my fingerring, and Fig. 2 is a plan View of same.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout both views.
In Fig. 1 is shown a finger-ring A, represented as bent into a circle of the requisite diameter and composed of a single piece of metallic wire. The ends of this piece of Wire are bent back to form loops 1) and h, each of which embraces the shank of the other, and each return-wire after making said shank is coiled closely, as at a and at, around the bodywire A beyond such loop. The loops 1) I) thus form a knot resembling what is commonly called a true-love knot. A small subsidiary loop or laterally-projecting eye 0 in the loop I) gives opportunity for the suspension therefrom of the bangle B by means of a connecting-ring d or otherwise.
In Fig. 2 a detail of the interlocking of the loops 1) b is given, with the fastening-coils a and a.
The ring A may by the use of greater length of wire be varied in design by doubling, braiding, or otherwise ornamentally changing its outer configuration, and the ends of the Wire may be otherwise twisted or arranged tov lock the looped knot, the essential element in this invention being the construction of a fingerring from one piece of wire without soldering by looping and fastening the ends substantially as described.
Having described my invention, what I de sire to claim and secure by Letters Patent The herein-described finger-ring composed of a single piece of wire A Whose ends are bent back to form loops. 1) and 1) each embracing the shank of the other, and the return-wires after making said shanks being coiled closely as at a and a around the body=wire A beyond said loops, a subsidiary eye 0 formed in and projecting laterally from one of said loops, and a bangle B attached to said eye, substan tially as set forth.
Signed by me at Waterloo, Iowa, this 21st day of September, 1898.
GAIGE M. SAUNDERS.
W'itnesses:
O. W. BOWN, M. E. KENNEDY.
