TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, JOHN A. MACKINNON, of the city of Reading, county of Berks, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new andiusefnl improvements in Table-Leaf Supports.; and I do hereby declare the following to be an exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l represents a longitudinal section of the table; and

Figure 2, a cross-section.

The nature of my invention consists in the arrangement and combination of a hinged lever or support operated by a catch and spring.

A represents the lever or support hinged at the tcp of the leaf C at D, and operating in a guide, E, attached to the side of the table-frame F. G isa hooked catch to hold the lever A, also attached on a ring or pivot to the side of table-frame F. A spiral spring, I-l, is also attached to the table-frame F at I, and connected with the top of the catch Gr. A wire, J, extends from the top ot' the catch along the table-frame to the end, where it is held by a button, K. The table leaf, when raised, is supported by the notch L in the end of lever A, ttng into the lower side of guide E, and the catch then clutches the lever-,and when the leaf of the table is to be lowered the button is drawn outward, which draws the ca-tch with it and raises the lever A, and the leaf then closes.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The straight lever A, hinged at one end and notched at the other, when constructed, combined, arranged, and operated by the lever-catch G, spiral spring H, and button K, as herein described and for the purposes set forth.
